Best decision in a while

I've had money worries and debt problems for a few years, made worse by covid and long term illness. The stress of worrying about the debts hasn't helped my physical or mental health, which has suffered badly. I spent a lot of time speaking with debt advisors and charities in 2021 trying to find a solution. One organisation led me to believe an option was available to me, which turned out not to be the case and that caused me severe stress and anxiety, leading to depression and thoughts of self-harm. In June 2022 I decided to have another go and spoke with the CAB who referred me to Pay Plan, who in turn, have suggested a solution which I'm currently pursuing and awaiting a creditors decision. If agreed, I will become debt free at last and 4 years of stress, anxiety, worry, depression and lack fo sleep will be over. If not, Pay Plan have advised of another potential solution, so all is not lost if this attempt fails. I have found the Pay Plan advisors were all very friendly, supportive and most importantly, non-judgemental. I felt I could be completely open and honest with them and felt they were on my side pretty much from the start of the process. Whether or not my proposed debt solution resolves my debt issues remains to be seen, but even if not, it won't be the fault of Pay Plan. Over the last 4 years I have spoken with all the other major debt solution providers and charities and while they gave me good advice, I was surprised at how quickly Pay Plan identified an option and then just ran with it. Yes it was uncomfortable having to go over everything and to provide a financial statement, but it wasn't as bad as I thought and at each stage, I have found Charlotte, my advisor, easy to speak with and she responded to my questions quickly and reassuringly. I have already recommended Pay Plan to a friend who also has debt problems and having spoken to all of the major players in this field, feel qualified to say that I think on balance, Pay Plan have the edge when it comes to knowledge, advice and support through what is a very stressful thing to deal with. My advice to anyone is DON'T keep it all inside or to yourself or, almost do something stupid, as I almost did last year thinking nobody could help me. There is help out there and you just need to ask for it. Pay Plan's assistance is FREE to me, which is very important to check before you instruct anyone to assist you and given my experience, I have to highly recommend Pay Plan as a trusted and professional organisation who can genuinely guide and advise on a debt crisis. At worst, speaking with them will help you see where you stand with everything and at best, they may be able to assist you in finding a long term solution. Just call them. It's a free number.
