I was a bit lost after the company failed, leaving me with directors loan guarantees that I couldn't pay. Business debtline made the situation clear and helped me write letters to sort things out. Reviewed on: 29th June 2026

Thank you BDL

BDL have completely changed my life - they are kind and sympathetic on the telephone, helping you understand the different types of debt or money problems that you have and the solutions for each. They follow up each call with an email so you don't have to remember everything which is particularly helpful for my health problems. They helped me create a budget and improve on areas by reducing costs and increasing benefits so this wasn't negative anymore. They actually helped me reduce my council tax by £1200 a year which was a benefit I had been advised for nearly 2 years I wasn't applicable for which removed this debt and allowed me to negotiate with other creditors for more affordable payments and to manage existing debt. The budget helped me understand how to manage the money I had better and to save a small amount monthly for emergencies. Overall, my financial situation is already substantially improved by dealing with 2 of 5 debt problems, and I have strategies in place for the others so I'm not afraid of my phone ringing or what letters will say anymore. I cannot thank them enough for the help they have given me, they have taken all my health considerations into account and assisted with solutions for the mental health impacts that debt has as well as listening and the advisors are all fantastic! Reduced my stress immediately.

Reduced my stress immediately. I did not know this amazing service existed. I never thought I would be in the position I found myself in but thankfully due to the helpline life was made so much easier. The information provided and the friendly approachable people I spoke to helped me sleep at night knowing I had many options that could help me. So grateful this help is available and my situation is much better. I know exactly where I am up to after avoiding looking at my real situation. Very good debt advice

Help when it was most needed.

I couldn't praise the people I spoke to at Business Debtline enough. They treated me with respect and empathy when I was suffering extreme anxiety about my debt. I was going through a difficult period that I couldn...

I was going through a difficult period that I couldn't get out of and that was really making my life hard. A single phone call helped me resolve all my problems. Of course, Citizen Advice was also very helpful in this matter. I provided all the requested information truthfully and accurately. As a result, a decision was made to write off my £33,000 debt. Non Judgmental, Life Saving Support

The advisors at business debt line are life savers. The support offered by the service as a whole is literally life saving. Debt is a huge problem in the UK and having a service like this that can provide solutions in a time of enormous stress is phenomenal. The knowledge, understanding and jon judgemental support that each and every advisor gives means life can go on and solutions can be found to whatever debt circumstance you find yourself in.
