Policy in practice is a great tool for the customer and landlord to use. It gives the customer help and suggestions with benefits that they may not realise that they could apply for. It gives the landlord a very comprehensive breakdown of their affordability and gives a percentage score for their affordability. Reviewed on: 14th May 2025

Using Benefit Calculator for work

I recently used the Better Off Calculator and was genuinely impressed with how helpful and easy it was to use. It gave me a clear, realistic picture of how taking on a job or increasing hours would affect overall income — including any changes to benefits, tax credits, and other support. What I appreciated most was the breakdown of income before and after employment. It helped me see exactly where someone could gain and how it would impact theirhousehold budget. It’s reassuring to know that they would be better off financially by working more, and it’s taken a lot of the uncertainty out of planning their next steps. The tool is very user-friendly, even if you're not great with numbers, and it really helped boost my confidence about returning to work. Great help on chat box

I find the chat box has been particularly helpful when I've had any further queries. If an answer cannot be provided immediately, someone always gets back to me. Additionally, the fringe benefits referred to at the end of the calculations are a good reminder of other services and help available. Reviewed on: 14th May 2025
