Good ... but a faster response to prevailing market conditions needed

Good response from Chat (Jane) without any wait time. However, Bath BS has been slow to response to Bank of England base rate changes, specifically on Regular Saver. There are many higher rate products out there without the load of investment & w/d limits. The nature of a continuing regular saver makes it much harder to ditch, as the rate may change in response to the market and all the customer's hard work accumulate a savings pot over years will be lost. But the customer cannot wait forever; thus, I have marked this for review before next month's payment. Reviewed on: 3rd April 2023

When it comes to our Savings products, we do respond as quickly as we can to changes in any Bank of England base rate changes and other changes in the market. Our aim, unlike many of our competitors, is to provide long term fair value and also we are trying to mindful of the difficult times our borrowing members are facing. I am certain you will be able to find better rates elsewhere but in most cases those firms paying the highest rates do so for a limited period only. We don't and won't play that game. I want our members to save with us for the longer term knowing that they will always be treated fairly and paid competitive rates. I believe we are achieving this as I know that most of our products consistently pay well above average rates and even this week some of our products were in 'best rate' tables of some national newspapers. Very positive! Two assistants on separate chats were very helpful and concrete in info given and which actually answered the questions asked! If they were not sure, they checked with a manager and emailed response later within a short period of time. Very good service - thank you! Reviewed on: 29th March 2023

New phone APP

I love the new phone app. it shows all my savings accounts on one page. For each account it shows the balance and interest rate. I can now access the information instantly using Face ID. Its a vast improvement on the online service which I found very time consuming to access. It also illustrates that a smaller Society can do things better than a large multi- national bank as well as being in my view a safer option for my savings.. Reviewed on: 28th March 2023

Reply from Bath Building Society I think you mean that new accounts are restricted. Otherwise all of our members enjoy our good rates wherever they live. For those accounts that are restricted to new business they are typically available to existing loyal members and anyone who lives, works or studies in Bath. But not all of our accounts are restricted and we remove the restrictions when we can for example our Lifetime ISA was recently available nationally but because of the demand we had to apply restrictions to maintain service levels.
