Various unnecessary complications, partly down to NBS conditions on the mortgage

Apart from the excellent service from Eve McDowell (mortgage advisor) the service from NBS was poor. For a relatively small mortgage ( less than 20% of value ) NBS insisted on doing another survey despite an extensive survey having already been done and an additional report by a structural engineer .... which added costs. In addition NBS insisted that I use a solicitor to handle the mortgage. This was expensive and ended up giving me a real headache as the mortgage came with pre-conditions which were completely messed up by my solicitor. Not directly the fault of NBS but the pre-conditions were totally unnecessary in the first place. Reviewed on: 16th December 2021

Efficient & Helpful Service

Having had savings accounts with Newbury Building Society for a year, we were contacted by the Alton Branch, advising us we were now eligible to open up an existing members savings account with very favourable interest rates. My wife and I took advantage of this offer and opened our accounts in the Alton Branch where we found the staff extremely friendly and obliging and left no stone unturned with information regarding our savings with Newbury Building Society.
