Dreadful.

Dreadful. Trying to transfer my pension from these people to a new more competent and efficient pension provider is proving extremely difficult. They are very obstructive and very slow and very.. Asking me the same questions over and over again that I've answered over and over again and now not letting me transfer my pension until I've spoken for an hour with someone that I've never heard of and that I don't even want to speak to. I feel like they are treating me like a child or someone who has serious learning difficulties or something. I am a grown man and I want to be free to invest my pension as I see fit. I think the Prudential are very old and slow company and probably won't be around for much longer. I will make a point of telling everyone I know not to get involved with Prudential. ONE STAR – YEARS OF OBSTACLES TRYING TO ACCESS MY FATHER’S OWN PENSION I very rarely feel compelled to write a review like this, but our family’s experience of Prudential has reached the point where it needs to be documented publicly. My father is now 72 years old and has been trying to access his pension as a full uncrystallised lump sum. What should have been a clear process has turned into an extraordinary and exhausting succession of telephone calls, emails, letters, forms, signatures, changing requirements and apparently endless additional hurdles. The wider history goes back approximately 12 years, with the most intensive efforts to resolve the matter continuing for the last two to three years. We were previously led to understand that my father required a suitably qualified financial adviser before Prudential would proceed. After an enormous amount of effort, we have finally obtained the appropriate financial adviser, the necessary paperwork has been completed and returned, and we believed we were finally approaching the end of this process. Instead, yet another requirement has now been introduced. Throughout this experience, my father has made his wishes abundantly clear: he wants to access his pension as a full lump sum. He understands that there may be tax consequences. He understands that financial advice may recommend alternatives. He is entitled to receive appropriate warnings and advice. But advice is not the same thing as preventing an adult from ultimately making his own informed decision about his own retirement savings. The constant introduction of further requirements has left us questioning when this process will ever actually conclude. What makes the situation particularly troubling is the sheer amount of time and energy that has been required simply to reach this stage. We have dealt with repeated conversations, correspondence, paperwork and different explanations over a period measured not in weeks, but in years. My father should not have to spend his retirement repeatedly fighting to access money that he has accumulated for precisely this stage of his life. We have now reached the point where the entire history is being compiled into a formal chronology, including correspondence, telephone calls, advice given, documents requested and delays encountered. I also have serious concerns about whether the way this matter has been handled throughout has met the standards expected of a regulated financial-services provider. Those concerns will now be escalated through the appropriate formal channels, including the Financial Ombudsman Service. I am not asking Prudential for a favour. I am asking Prudential to bring this extraordinarily prolonged matter to a conclusion and enable my father, having received the appropriate advice and information, to exercise his decision regarding his own pension. After everything our family has experienced, I could not in good conscience recommend Prudential to anyone based upon the service we have received. I sincerely hope Prudential now takes ownership of this case, reviews the complete history rather than treating each contact as another isolated transaction, and finally resolves it. I am extremely disappointed with my experience deali...

I am extremely disappointed with my experience dealing with Prudential. I was originally advised that my bereavement claim would take around 4–6 weeks to process, however I am now well beyond that timeframe with no resolution in sight. Throughout this process I have repeatedly been told there are “issues on their end” causing delays, yet I am given no meaningful updates or clear explanation of what those issues actually are. Communication has been poor and inconsistent, and I often feel as though I am being passed from one vague answer to another with no real progress being made. The level of service has been shockingly poor. The agents I have spoken to seem disorganised and ill-informed, at times not even understanding basic details of the claim. On one occasion during a live chat regarding a bereavement claim, I was even asked if the deceased policy holder was “speaking” to them, which was deeply upsetting and completely inappropriate given the nature of the situation. Overall, the handling of my claim has been incompetent and distressing. I have had to raise three separate complaints due to the ongoing issues and lack of proper service. At a time when sensitivity and efficiency should be expected, Prudential has fallen far short on both. I would strongly advise others to consider this level of service before choosing to deal with them. Reviewed on: 30th April 2026

I’m retired and been trying to claim my pension for...

I’m retired and been trying to claim my pension for about 3 months. Keep get no where with pru. Nobody reply’s to emails. Phone them and put on hold for ages. When someone does speek they say I need to get a letter of authority from my ex employer. I have sent this letter 6times but still getting no where Reviewed on: 19th August 2025

DO NOT INVEST YOUR MONEY IN THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN Here is my experience and the review I have left online in numerous sites.... Well where do I begin! Like the previous writer if I could give less than 1 star I would! Iv'e held a private pension policy with the Pru since 1985 and I wanted to cash it in 4 yrs ago. Im now 69 and I could have cashed it when I was 55 but chose to keep paying into it. If I'd have known then what I would have to go through to access my own funds I would have never invested with these guys in the first place. My father swore by the Pru but he would be turning in his grave at the treatment I have endured over the last 4 years. Started trying to access my funds in 2021. I must add that I'm now living in Australia. I spent hours and hours on the phone with various staff being passed down a long line of people who "couldn't deal with my situation" (not sure what they're being payed to do here) only to be cut off after a 2hr plus phone call with no results. This happened on numerous occasions to the point where I really didn't want to have any dealings with them, so I decided instead of drawing an annuity which would have tied me to them, I would withdraw my entire funds and put them in an Australian superfund. This caused even more hassle for me, as I was told I personally couldn't access my full fund and would have to employ a financial advisor to do so. After many official complaints from myself and my financial advisor on my behalf and almost 4 years later I finally have my funds over in Australia and out of Prudentials hands. I cannot begin to describe the worry, stress & anxiety plus financial burden this company has caused me. No pensioner should have to go through this amount of stress at this time in life. I'm convinced that they hope that you will just give up trying to access your money. They are absolutely appalling as a company for investing your money in and my advice is to never ever consider using Prudential UK if you value your savings. stay away from these absolute thieves

These absolute con artists had. Precise instructions in a will on who they had to pay so there's absolutely no reason why still after a year they keep saying there still trying to work out who the benefactors are when it's clearly stated who they were and it seams this is the normal with this company they just make dealing with the death of one of your parents a million times harder then it already is dragging it on let people have closure it's like they really don't care. Takes 28 days for a response from them if you even get one. But as I was told if someone misses a payment there's a letter sent within 3 day and alot of effort get your payment from you. But not when it comes to paying out take my advice if you already have my in this company get it out and with someone else now before your never see it again Reviewed on: 24th November 2024

PRUDENTIAL PENSIONS THEY DO NOT PAY OUT

I HAVE 2 PENSIONS WITH PRUDENTIAL THE FIRST WAS DUE TO PAY MY ANNUITY ON 1ST JULY,2023 AND THE SECOND ON 1ST JANUARY,2024, I AM STILL WAITING FOR BOTH OF THESE POLICIES TO BE SORTED AND PAID OUT, PRUDENTIAL JUST NEVER GET THE MATTER SORTED ALWAYS ANOTHER EXCUSE FOR DELAYING PAYING, LONG DELAYS BETWEEN RESPONSES JUST DRAGGING OUT THE PAIN FOR MYSELF STRUGGLING TO SURVIVE ON NO MONEY, PRUDENTIAL EVEN IGNORE THE ONBUDSMANS RULING THAT THEY HAD TO PAY ME WITHIN 30 DAYS. I AM AT MY WITTS END WORRYING HOW I WILL SURVIVE OVER THE WINTER WITHOUT ANY INCOME. ANY SUGESTIONS WILL BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED, I GET MY STATE PENSION ON 6TH MARCH 2025 SO IF I CAN SURVIVE TILL THEN I SHOULD BE O.K. IT JUST THE WINTER TO GET THROUGH.
