Make it as difficult as possible

I found it almost impossible to pass the information needed as it didn’t tick boxes . So is rejectedwhy make it almost impossible to open an account I’ve don’t have all the info to tick boxes. Reviewed on: 6th November 2022

New account rejected for no reason

I have a limited company operating for 8 years and tried to switch from Lloyds. But we were rejected with no explanation. Very odd! We will take our business elsewhere. Reviewed on: 18th August 2022

No human contact, Rejected opening of a business account without reason

Horrendous company. Admittedly I fell for the slick and modern branding but they really showed themselves to be amateurs. Submitted documents as required, my business is regulated by a government body and received a message on their faulty app that they couldn't open a business account and they couldn't tell me why. No response to emails and the advisors on the phone have no clue apart from whatever the script they are reading from is telling them. Stick to old guard, Lloyds are pretty good, I'm going there, Reviewed on: 1st August 2022

Fine for a very small business, becomes increasingly poor as you grow

It's fine if the business is very small and you just want an app to update you when you receive a payment and you value a nice app experience. Once your account becomes more complex, you can't even do basic things such as check total incoming revenue in a certain period, I called to ask about this and was patronisingly told to print off the pdfs and use a calculator - when you're dealing with thousands of transactions, that's not a good response. They still won't offer any type of business OD and are blaming covid bounce back loans (it's June 2022), and the staff are generally clueless as to what products the bank can actually offer. Also be prepared to be regularly cut off if you need to speak to an advisor. Basically if you have, or you want, a grown up business, go to a grown up bank. We moved to HSBC and instant breath of fresh air in the form of a safe pair of hands. No doubt they'll have their frustrations as all banks do, but seem far better suited to a growing business. Won't even let me open the account

They asked me for signatures from all the directors.....but I'm the only one? I explained this and then they are stuck on this point. Ridiculous. I've also noticed their customer service on personal accounts has gone downhill recently. Reviewed on: 29th April 2022

Starling Business Account is so simple to set up. Whenever I have had any questions that need answered they have been fast and extremely helpful in answering. Their online banking is straightforward and a pleasure to use. Absolutely 1st class service all round! Reviewed on: 11th April 2022
