The best telephone customer service ever!

How refreshing. I have been completely fed up with other banks and building societies whenever contacting them. They keep you waiting, don't listen and everything just becomes unnecessarily difficult. I spoke to Lisa this morning who was the model of efficiency, professionalism and courteousness. Slow to raise the savings interest rate

Decisions about interest rates are always difficult and our aim at the Family Building Society is that we continue to offer competitive rates. Our rates are set on a combination of factors, one of which is Bank of England Bank Rate. You may have seen in our Spring newsletter that the funding the Bank of England directed to all banks and building societies during the pandemic had the inevitable effect of pushing down retail savings rates. It is only recently that retail rates have moved significantly, and we adjusted our savings interest rates from 26 April in response to that. Cannot access online account

Tried with several browsers inc Chrome and Safari. Message showing is. online.familybuildingsociety.co.uk redirected you too many times. contact the provider. Except there is no email for FBS online issues so I guess wait for 2 hours on a phone call. Not impressed. Reviewed on: 13th April 2022

Windfall Bond

Called FBS as I’d forgotten my username - very helpful customer assistant reminded me and waited whilst I attempted a login in case there was any problems with my password etc. Reviewed on: 31st March 2022

Previously I was able to open/operate accounts by phone/post. As a comparison I can do this with Shawbrook Bank who also have higher saving rates.

When I asked for a Windfall Bond application form to be sent to me when postal applications where still possible, no form arrived until I phoned again. This left me only one day to return the application before the cut off date, so I could not invest my 100k. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2022

If you wish to open a Windfall Bond, and need any assistance in doing this online, please don’t hesitate to contact our New Business Team on 03330 140141. We will be delighted to help you. Please note that each Windfall Bond is for £10,000.00, so to open more than one bond, multiple applications will need to be made. Response date: 2nd March 2022
