Bond Renewal

I rang to check that a bond renewal had been received and was OK - as I suspected I had not dated the renewal sheet..Genevive reassusred me this was not a problem and that FBS had received my instructions and would iimplement on the due date. Telephone customer service.

Spoke to Lisa 2/5/24. Asked if someone had phoned 30/4, in response to my email 26/4, as had missed call from 033 number. She went out of her way to find out. The answer was no, however between us we discovered that I had input the email address incorrectly. She was very patient with me and offered to look out for my email and make sure it goes to the correct department. Thank you Lisa and The Family Building Society. Reviewed on: 3rd May 2024

Easy Society to deal with.

Contacting the Society is easy in case of any queries, either by email or phone, and everything is very efficiently handled. One small "eyebrow raise" is that maturity instructions for fixed rate bonds can't be dealt with online, and paperwork is sent out about 2 weeks before maturity. If you might be going away on a 3+ week trip abroad, say, that might be "awkward" and trigger an unwanted automatic re-investment into a new, similar account purely because you weren't able to pick up any snail-mail! In terms of the maturity mailing, yes this is a manual process and if you miss the mailing due to not being present, we offer an extended cooling off period so you're able to invest in the account you desire. Excellent Annual Savings Interest Summary

I would like to compliment the Family Building Society for their Annual Savings Interest Summary. This is sent to customers personally through the post. This is essential for filling in a tax return accurately ( and checking HMRC calculations if they do it themselves ! ). The presentation of this summary is excellent compared to the other banks I have savings accounts with, which often involves time consuming use of cluncky web-sites on-line for each individual account.
