faulty card and poor customer service.

I tried to use my card last week in Sicily several times without success. On my return I rang the call centre to be told that mine was issued on 4th July and was part of a faulty batch surely they should have replaced these cards as soon as they knew there was a problem not wait until after the customer has tried to use it! The girl in the call centre seemed to find it amusing as well. I'm now waiting for a new on to arrive and have been told by travelex to try booking a hotel room and paying in Euro to see if it works can't believe how they treat the customer. It does put you off using the card ever again. Good idea if it works Reviewed on: 23rd September 2016

Pilot was great. Now - not so good

I was part of the pilot and was really pleased with the supercard - using it successfully in the US and Europe. However the new mastercard is awful! I would estimate only 1 in 4 transactions is successful with the majority being declined - however these transactions go through just fine with the linked card. There are also these 'adjustments' that you get charged even though they do not appear on the app - giving a false figure. Supercard say they are working on the issue of the card being declined but have yet to resolve it - since the relaunch Reviewed on: 2nd September 2016

Worked 5 times

I used this card in Chicago in July it worked the first 5 times after that nothing. I called the support centre only to be told by the person who answered the phone there was only him in the office. Nobody called back I had to call again this time I received an email stating that I would be reimbursed back to the Supercard transaction fees. Returned on 10th August Hugely DISAPPOINTED DONT BOTHER Reviewed on: 16th August 2016

DREADFUL!!! - NOT ACCEPTED ANYWHERE IN LAS VEGAS

1
our card was declined everywhere in Las Vegas - and I had to call from the US 3 times - costing me over £70.00 in mobile phone charges + we had to revert to using the cards that this was supposed to replace, again costing us money! - I was told eventually I would receive a call back within 24hours - 3 weeks later I am still waiting! and no response to emails. DREADFUL DREADFUL CUSTOMER SERVICES!!!!!!!!! Reviewed on: 11th August 2016

Minor issues but great overall

The Travelex Supercard was launched to a limited number of trial users last year. The premise is simple - link the cards from your accounts, credit and debit, through an app to the card and use it for your spending, and cash withdrawals. The advantage is in using the card overseas, incurring no fees (the exchange rate is close to perfect and certainly better than a bank would give you on a debit withdrawal). The trial period ends in June with the full version of the card set to be rolled out thereafter, if it remains free then there will be little reason not to have one in your wallet, especially if you travel abroad. There are 1 or 2 minor issues Travelex need to address, the first of which is their support which I had to use once when a charge processed incorrectly. The process was frustrating and the agents I spoke with didn't seem to understand that there was actually an issue, it was eventually resolved. The other is that currently the card doesn't support AMEX which restricts it's appeal for many, especially those who use credit cards as points collecting vessels (hotel loyalty points, airline miles etc). Very occasionally the card isn't accepted, but this is rare - I experienced it twice during the year, once in Las Vegas and once in Toronto - both times in a restaurant. The app itself shows your transactions pretty much immediately, along with the exchange rate, the £ value of the transaction and the potential saving you've made. Your account is charged a couple of days later. There were some issues early on when transactions were taking up to 2 weeks to process through to the linked account, however these appear to have been resolved. All in all I think a great product - will I get one when fully launched Yes. Would I pay a fee for it (such as the Curve cards recently released, which does support AMEX), I think I probably would, especially if I knew I had a few trips coming up in the year.
