Frustrating Lifetime ISA experience

I used the contents of an AJ Bell Lifetime ISA as part of a house deposit. Initially they responded quickly with a request that I amend some details on their form. When I'd done this, they went completely silent for weeks. After multiple ignored chasing contacts from me, I eventually got through on the phone to be told payment was being processed that day. When the money failed to arrive with the conveyancer, I had to chase again by email, and was told they still needed to notify HMRC and would only process the payment once that had gone through. I asked why this process hadn't been started already given that I'd previously been told they were looking at payment processing and was ignored. Finally they did get the money to the conveyancer, alongside an email carefully pointing out that they'd technically met their obligation to release the funds within 30 days. By contrast, my wife's Lifetime ISA provider dealt with the whole process quibble-free in less than a week. As far as I'm concerned I was lied to at least once and repeatedly ignored, and I will never be using the platform again. Reviewed on: 5th February 2026

A wise choice for investments.

I looked at a number of investment platforms before deciding on AJ Bell. Their open approach to investing made it very easy to understand how to Invest and what areas of investment one may choose. It could be shares, isa, cash, etf funds etc. The straight forward explanation of fees is easy to understand and the investment platform is very easy to use. I don't use a phone to invest so I don't know what AJ Bell's platform is like; bit I can say the computer or Tablet format is great for me. One of the best things with AJ Bell is the weekly Shares magazine and the fact one is not plagued with emails all day.
