Customers are expected to hold significant balances, yet in my case there was no effective intervention when large, unusual payments were made under clear deception. In your own communication, you described this as a “sophisticated impersonation scam”, which clearly involves deception and social engineering. Despite this, you chose to classify the as “account takeover” and declined to apply the October 2024 APP reimbursement protections. This contradiction is significant. Crucially, the fraudsters demonstrated real-time knowledge of my transactions during the call. They referenced activity that had just occurred, which would not be possible without either highly sophisticated access or a serious failure in safeguarding customer information.
