Been with Autonet on/off for years. Competitive prices etc but the worst experience when you really need them!!!!



Wrote car off.....bad enough.....lots of fees/excess charges through insurance company (to be expected) that autonet insurance brokered for me.



Hit with a bill from Autonet for my policy in full (accident happened 2 months into years policy).



I had no idea this was a “thing” with brokers....you need to pay your years premium regardless if ca is written off/sold/you want to leave out with 14day cool off period.



Robbing pri*ks.



NEVER will I use there services again and it has become a little project of mine to make sure everyone knows this hidden detail about brokers.



PS - Company was also like a chocolate fire guard when I needed there assistance with vehicle recovery etc and I ended up bypassing them completely and dealing with insurance directly.





AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!



Get your insurance direct and cut out the middle man.

They initially give you the best quote, then come back to you a week later to say some details were missing, despite providing all details on the comparison site, and threaten to cancel the policy unless you pay more money. When you cancel, they charge £25 for no reason anyway. Stay away!

Rip off merchants waited for my policy to start before they flagged up a mistake in the details of a named driver on the policy. Put me over a barrell basically had to pay £50 plus 4 days cover at £10 a day to cancel the policy and start a new one even though the cover had only started that day because it was a Friday the cancelation does not come up until the next working (Monday) day another con.my other option was to pay over £100 to keep the policy. Customer service was terrible spoke to two different people both were rude explained to them how me and my wife were both on furlough and money was tight they didn't care they would rob your grans false teeth. I would advise everyone to avoid this company glad I cancelled and got cover elsewhere.

Been with this company for 15 years. Had to cancel a policy for the first time (as cutting down costs) Paid £356.00 in September, so have 6 months left. Expecting to get a fair refund. But no i got £1. Yes £1 with 6 months remaining. The girl with attitude said £80.95 to Autonet and £56 to underwriter. I pointed out that this is so unfair and that can they waive any costs as spent thousands with them, plus i have other policies with them. She came back in double quick time! said no its £1.
I will NEVER deal with this company again

I went on live chat and even got an email of proof of my communication online. On three occasions i was let down. They are the worst company I have ever come across. Thank God my new insurer Direct Line were fantastic. They didn't charge me a penny for having no proof straight away and waited six weeks. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM AUTONET !!!!!!!!!!! GANGSTERS.

Awful unethical company. Avoid at all costs! Autonet are charging us £260 to add a driver to the policy (this is a safe-no risk middle aged male driver with no convictions, no driving offences etc). Our other vehicle insurance just added him for free. I requested that they let me cancel the policy so we can go elsewhere, but they will charge £80 to cancel. I have gone through all the complaints and they are not budging. Completely crooked and unprofessional.

I took out a policy in March and paid for the whole year at about £270. We changed our car in September and they wanted a further £189 for the final 7 months. I understand the car is newer and costs more however I decided that was very expensive so cancelled. For the remaining 7 months they refunded me £8 when, after a long discussion said they would refund nearer to £50. I would not recommend this company at all. Their charges are outrageous!!!

An absolute disgrace of an insurer from start to finish, acting fraudulently and trying to get away with it.

Refused to accept proof of no claims, arguing that it was being used on another vehicle, when it wasn't.

Made my Mother feel so intimidated and upset that she cancelled the policy and moved her business elsewhere. All this because of Autonet's threats to cancel the policy, despite having submitted the no claims satisfactorily and within the time frame specified.

The documents clearly state 'you may cancel within 14 days OF RECEIVING YOUR POLICY DOCUMENTS!'

The policy was cancelled within 8 days of receiving the documents, as we receive documents by post. Autonet now arguing that we have documents online, when we do not - our documents were selected to be received by post. Yet another fraudulent excuse to charge an extra fee!

Hidden charges for cancellation from the underwriter too that are NOT detailed in the policy paperwork. Autonet cancellation fee, underwriter cancellation fee and over-inflated time on cover fee that does not amount to the number of days on cover on a pro-rata basis.

£435 policy to start with and a £281 refund after cancelling within 15 days, only 5 days after receiving the documents.

£154 charged for cancelling a policy due to Autonet's own refusal to accept a formal document from the previous insurer and accusing a policy holder of being a liar. An absolutely ridiculous amount.

Hidden charges, fraudulent charges and very poor customer service.

Fraud and theft by deception at it's finest.

CONSUMER WARNING!!!!!
I have been trying to cancel this policy for over a week but it seems impossible. I called Autonet insurance last Wednesday 18th of September 2019 6 times and wires over 30 minutes on hold to they can elations team. I finally got through to an agent who advised that she cannot cancel the policy and all the cancellations team are busy. She advised that she will pass it through to a supervisor who will call me back before 7pm. They never called me back. On Friday 19th September 2019 I tried to call them again numerous times spending hours on hold and never got connected. I looked at TrustPilot to find that a lot of people were having the same issue so i sent the following email.
Hi
I have been trying to contact you since Wednesday last week. You have promised multiple times to call me back and failed. I would like you to call me and cancel my policy ASAP before I have no choice but to review my experience publicly.

There response was as follows:

Thank you for that information and I have passed on your details so you should receive a call back shortly. I want to make you aware that we have a different postcode for you, so you will need to provide the address we hold on file to the agent that calls you to pass data protection.

I then received a call 4 hours later from autonets cancellation team. The advisor confirmed to me that the policy was now canceled. GREAT FINALLY!
Then 1 week later I receive the following letter via the post from Autonet:
We refer to your goods/commercial vehicles policy and your recent call to Autonet regarding the cancellation of this insurance. As the full cancellation procedure has not been completed we can confirm your policy is active. If you wish to discuss further please contact our office.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times. WHAT?
So back to square one, I call and sit on hold for 30 minutes to the cancellation team. I then connect at the point I start writing this review. But no one speaks. I can hear their staff in the back ground talking about the weekend and how pleased they are that it’s Friday. In fact I am still connected and can still hear them having a knees up now 34 minutes and 12 seconds later. I MEAN WHAT IS THE AGENT DOING?
I have recorded all the background chatter. I wonder if their supervisor will be interested in hearing it? APPARENTLY AT THE MOMENT THEY ARE READING EACH OTHERS EMAILS.
I wonder if they are going to cancel my policy down. I have had no choice but to cancel my direct debit but I would really like to get the policy cancelled officially.

What a con! What is the point of having protected no claims if they can back door the increase by just putting your policy up instead. This should not be allowed and is completely unfair.
