BUYER BEWARE - Took out a policy online but realised it wasn't right. Rang over half an hour later and was asked for my reference number. Person said they had to talk to someone and kept me hanging on the line when they came back they said they would not refund money in full but have to charge an administration fee as they now had entered the details on system. I wondered why I was kept holding for so long? They are brokers and do not offer 14 day change of mind that a regulated insurance company would. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM make sure to deal direct with an insurance company.

extortionate renewal quote

my first years costs were reasonable at just over £200 for the year, i've made no claims or been subject of any claims, no points or collisions or change in my personal circumstances yet my renewal was £330 for the year.

NEVER AGAIN!

Absolutely... Read more

Absolutely dreadful!
After finding a very competitive quote through a comparison site, we went on to take the policy. We have had nothing but trouble - three letters threatening us with cancellation - each time have rang them straight away and given them the information they have needed - yet another letter to cancel - another phone call - and so it goes on. Tonight, the final straw - yet ANOTHER letter to cancel - so I rang immediately - they said there was a 'spelling mistake' from a previous insurer on some information we had sent therefore it was 'void'. This information had first been sent through when the original policy was taken out and in no correspondence or phone calls has this been told to us until today - when they have cancelled our policy. the people on the other end of the phone were rude and, after going through all of this in detail, I said I wanted to complain - she asked what about????? NEVER AGAIN!

If you are a non-white or have an ethnic name avoid Autonet. Twenty years of safe driving never had any claim or problem with any car insurance, Autonet investigated me like a criminal. It was a big mistake to go with them. They wanted scan copy of everything, DVLA record even my MOT certificates etc, you name it they asked for it. I could not cancel as it was passed the 14 days cancellation period. After renewal, I discovered they reduced my NCB by 7 years, after extensive enquiries they admit making a mistake with no apologies. Imagine reducing your NCB by seven years for no reason and no apology.

...As this company is a definite ZERO.

When I was planning to move house I informed Autonet - who then said there’d be a £250 increase in my policy cost!!

I then looked on line and found that other insurers were actually quoting £150 a year less for the new address.

When I pointed this out to Autonet refusing to accept the increase THEY cancelled my policy and then charged me £129 for early cancellation... absolute ****ers.

I’m now getting bombarded with letters, texts and e-mails - all of which come in PAIRS - So their admin systems are **** too.

I recently purchased car insurance from Autonet and was very disappointed with the customer service I received. There was a query regarding a windscreen replacement that I had done a while ago. I phoned them and this was resolved within 5 minutes. Despite me carefully wording an email, they ignored it and sent rude emails insisting on charging me an "admin fee" despite no changes at all to the policy and this was before cover had even began! I would have cancelled out of principle but no doubt they would have charged me a "cancellation fee" so have reluctantly left it. Suffice to say I will never be putting any further business through this company and neither will any of my friends or family.

Been with Autonet on/off for years. Competitive prices etc but the worst experience when you really need them!!!!

Wrote car off.....bad enough.....lots of fees/excess charges through insurance company (to be expected) that autonet insurance brokered for me.

Hit with a bill from Autonet for my policy in full (accident happened 2 months into years policy).

I had no idea this was a “thing” with brokers....you need to pay your years premium regardless if ca is written off/sold/you want to leave out with 14day cool off period.

Robbing pri*ks.

NEVER will I use there services again and it has become a little project of mine to make sure everyone knows this hidden detail about brokers.

PS - Company was also like a chocolate fire guard when I needed there assistance with vehicle recovery etc and I ended up bypassing them completely and dealing with insurance directly.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!

Get your insurance direct and cut out the middle man.

You're better off with the brand insurers. Autonet are scammers. They initially give you the best quote, then come back to you a week later to say some details were missing, despite providing all details on the comparison site, and threaten to cancel the policy unless you pay more money. When you cancel, they charge £25 for no reason anyway. Stay away!

Special thanks to the team leads Michael and Shaun for not budging in the cancellation fee. To say I’m angry would be an understatement. Excellent customer service guys, and thanks for 10 years business. What a joke. Furious

Charged me an extra 100 quid on top of quoted price for being hit in rear by a third party whilst I was stationary at a give way sign. Third Party admitted full liability and paid for everything. Use at your peril, my advice go with well known brands that may charge a bit more and give far better customer service. God knows what will happen if I get involved with a claim with these people.

Do not use autonet insurance scam rip off merchants
Rip off merchants waited for my policy to start before they flagged up a mistake in the details of a named driver on the policy. Put me over a barrell basically had to pay £50 plus 4 days cover at £10 a day to cancel the policy and start a new one even though the cover had only started that day because it was a Friday the cancelation does not come up until the next working (Monday) day another con.my other option was to pay over £100 to keep the policy. Customer service was terrible spoke to two different people both were rude explained to them how me and my wife were both on furlough and money was tight they didn't care they would rob your grans false teeth. I would advise everyone to avoid this company glad I cancelled and got cover elsewhere.

They are a broker, so you can't change anything yourself online - it has cost me £37.50 to change my address! Do not use them without realising their charging policy!
