By Miles provide car insurance aimed at low mileage drivers.

By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Low cost, great customer service , personal to you.

By miles goes away from the norm of insurance . The yearly process involves either speaking to an insurance comapny via telephone, attempting to haggle down your premium, which for some unknown reason has increased despite having another year no claims and another year of experience on the road, or alternatively , spending hours searching through price comparison websites in the hope that parking your vehicle on drive may drop your policy then parking or on a street. By miles makes sense . Charge you a set amount for the vehicle being parked for the year, as there is risk . Then charge a fixed amount for every mile you use as the risk of an accident is greater driving on the road then parked . This allows you to manage your miles to fit your budget . The device installed onto my vehicle was simple and free of charge and I was up and running withing a couple of hours. After every journey I am told how many miles I have travelled and what it has cost me via a pop up app. The app has been flawless throughout my use. The system by miles have developed makes you think about vehicle use and as a result reduces vehicles on the road. With concerns for the environment , this can only be a good thing . Everyone needs a vehicle for many different circumstances , but do no we need one for every journey? Can I jump on public transport such as a bus or train in order to save on my insurance? To summarise , I believe that by miles will not be the first to Implement this way of insuring your vehicle and companies will start to follow them. I haven't had a car for about 15 years so its like starting all over again, and ByMiles has helped me get back into the swing of things, I thought it was going to be a right head ache not having any insurance for so long, but no its been so simple ! I have never used this insurance company before but from the minute I contacted them I have been very, very pleased with their service. From the easy set up of the policy, to their very efficient customer service if you have to contact them. The big plus is that they are much cheaper than any other company I looked at for insurance. The fact that you just pay for what you use is a brilliant idea, especially if you are a low mileage user. However even if you are not, it still works out cheaper paying for your insurance 'by the mile'. Reviewed on: 12th September 2019
