By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

A fairer way paying for insurance

Finally after 40 years I have found a policy tailored to my needs. I have not just been placed in a category, I can now pay on mileage & I am still covered when not using my car. Its a no brainer really, saved me hundreds of pounds! Reviewed on: 12th August 2019

Friendly staff and no long waits.I only do low annual mileage and this insurance is cheap.You have a box that plugs into your car and you can see on your account your activity very hand and the plus is,the box tells you if you have a mechanical problem with the car and if stolen can track how good is that.i would recommend this insurance no problem,so glad I’m insured with them I have two cars so very happy. Hi there,I am a new customer To By Miles,up to now I haven't had any problems.I took the miles calculator to my usual meccanic who fitted it for me in 5minutes with no charge.I expect a younger driver would have done it themselves quite easily.I thinks this way of insuring your car is a great idea. This is a great insurance idea of paying for the distance travelled. Imnin my 50's and absolutely will NOT pay nearly £500 to insure a small family saloon. It is a rip off, a scam and legalised theft. So, when I saw ByMiles and took a look at their pricing structure, I had no hesitation in choosing them as my provider of choice. The added advantage is that they have an app which also acts as a tracker for the car and a car health checker. Amazing idea. I've already signed up an colleague and he loves it too. I like knowing how many miles I drive and having those miles indicated on a map is an interesting bonus. I can see where I got lost and had to turn around when possible on my trip to Norfolk...! Reviewed on: 7th August 2019

Innovative Approach supported by a great mobile app

This is truly an innovative approach to car insurance which will hopefully shake up the industry. As someone who barely uses their car (<5000 miles/annum) a pay-as-you-go model is ideal, obviously they aren't going to attract the heavy car users but for me it's ideal. In comparison to how other insurers had treated me for years, By Miles was the one and only insurance company that wasn't opportunist! They are fair and their price saved me hundreds of pounds. Also, great that from time to time they throw in a little treat for my custom, which reminds me that I'm valued. Joining them was easy and hassle free too. I absolutely recommend them as the best.
