I like that I can speak to a person I feel their customer service is very good, speaking to a person is key for me as opposed to a tick box Reviewed on: 28th January 2026

Best union/banking experience

5
I first heard about the Glasgow Credit Union via an old boss at work who told me about their 100% mortgage offer. I wasn't in the position to pursue it, but she told me they had other products/services and that it was worth being a member. I am beyond glad I took her advice and signed up - it's the best decision. Not only are they people really friendly at GCU, they are happy to help and nothing is too big or too small. They offer great membership services, especially via their new app and even have a lottery for those looking for extra cash! I also get the great sense of 'community' banking using them as they constantly update via their newsletter about what their giving back to the city and its charities. I would highly recommend getting in toe with this credit union - I've told practically everyone I know about them! Reviewed on: 9th July 2020

Easily set up and can be paid in by your employer

5
I joined the Glasgow Credit Union because my employer had a scheme where they could deduct the amount you want to put by straight from my wages, this made it much better for me to save money as it wasn't going into my current account. The best thing about GCU is that the longer you're a member and the more you save the more preferably loan and mortgage rates you can get. This is always handy for an emergency or if you need a loan and the banks are too expensive. This is the great thing about a Non-Profit Organisation, the customers are the shareholders essentially who reap the benefits of it's success. JOIN NOW! Reviewed on: 9th July 2020

Friendly, reliable and an understanding human being to deal with

Big enough to be competitive with the major banks but small enough to have a real empathy with the member Reviewed on: 9th July 2020
