This review concerns a policy for my other cat, who very tragically passed away while we were on holiday in August. When I returned home, I cancelled the direct debit and informed the company that we had sadly lost our second cat as well. Despite this, they continued to take payments. I stopped the direct debit again and subsequently received a phone call. Once more, I explained that our cat had died, that I had already informed them, and that they needed to refund the payments taken. I am now being told they do not believe me and need to contact the vet to confirm that I am “telling the truth”. Why, after paying for a policy for many years and never making a claim, would I cancel a direct debit, allow it to be reinstated, and then request a refund without good reason? It makes absolutely no sense and perfectly sums up what a dreadful company this is. There are many better and cheaper alternatives available. My vets completed the documents and sent them to Healthy Pets, I didn't hear anything so chased them the end Oct, HP stated they hadn't received them so my vets sent the documents again.. again I heard nothing.. I chased again the beginning of Dec to be told yes we now have your claim... I waited heard nothing, called again 21/12 to be told yet again we don't have your claim.. we will call your vets... I waited.. yeah you've guessed it I heard nothing, chased again 10/1 to be told still no record of claim.. they will call the vets direct.. now the 16/1 and Ive heard nothing. For a company that are very quick to increase costs and add deductions as your pets gets older it is near on impossible to actually make a claim... DO NOT TOUCH THEM.. really shocking service. Over 4 weeks ago, our cat was injured in an accident and underwent a successful surgery. However, the last 4 weeks have been full on anxiety any sleepless nights as they claim still hasn’t been assessed. To our surprise, they told us 4 weeks is their current claim processing time, far exceeding the 10 working days they state on their website. Even after 4 weeks, when we rang on Friday so could give us no more assurance of when it would be accessed. Coming up to Christmas and will other financial challenges this ongoing situation is making things so much worse for our mental health and family finances. The reviews were good when we joined, but if you are looking for an insurer that will help in your time of need, I would currently look elsewhere. We are really hoping for a resolution this week before Christmas but it seems very unlikely and our anxiety, stress and uncertainty goes on. Read more Read less

My dog, at nearly 12 years old suddenly got ill and upon taking him to the vets, he underwent a scan which showed he had cancer in many places and he was put down that day. I put in my first ever claim (£1200) and was awarded just over £188.00 as the company decided to claim back nearly £600 for the monthly premiums I would have paid had he lived. Their policy states that they reserve the right deduct unpaid premiums not that they will do so. As a customer for many years I wasnt expecting this to happen especially as I have been paying over £60 a month for what I believed would be a good level of cover. Read more Read less

Sadly my cat passed away a few weeks ago, we have had to pay the whole bill whilst waiting to hear back from them which is fine. But only to be told a ridiculous amount won’t be paid for, like the fact she was over 6 so a large amount got deducted. And that we have to pay the remaining contract even though our pet is no longer here, which is absolutely disgusting. They clearly could not care less about their customers and just want to take as much money as they possibly can out of them. Thankyou for making this whole situation that much harder for us.
