Review of the Performance Direct, Insurance Broker:

Appalling company

1
They seek to look for any possible way of getting more money from you once you start the policy. They query your job position, when you bought the car, ask for evidence. Its ludicrous. Then inform you its £55 to cancel. I'm within my 14 days cooling off and they can keep my initial payment and won't be getting anymore! Stay clear Reviewed on: 9th March 2023

This is not a good insurance company.

1
This is not a good insurance company. They are under investigation by the Financial Institutions. I insured my car with them in september but a month later I was informed my insurance was cancelled because I was listed as a director of a company. They provided information that is obsolate and asked for a proof of my current employement. My employer and I have provided them with the details but up till now no response. There are few warnings online about their dishonest tricks. https ://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/ showthread.php?t=4822851 Reviewed on: 18th November 2019

Avoid. Chaotic customer service

1
Purchased motor insurance online and all seemed straight-forward & efficient. Once the policy was paid for, they wanted to "validate your details before we can issue your documents". After many attempts to speak to them at the telephone (long waits, incessant "your call is important to us" recording on a loop, being placed on hold & then nothing), I managed to speak to someone but I had to explain a number of times why they had asked me to call! The actual call took about 15 minutes & I thought that would be it. An email was sent to me the same day (15/10/19) enclosing my insurance documents & I was asked to activate my online account, which I did on receipt. However, I keep on getting 'phone calls requesting that I validate my details before they will release my documents! Today (16/11/19), a voicemail message suggested my insurance would be cancelled in 7 days time if I did not comply! I've tried telephoning them again only to be faced with the mind-numbing "your call is important to us" nonsense so I've emailed their Customer Service team, enclosing the email from a month ago which enclosed the documents they still maintain they won't release to me and I've asked them to sort out their mess. What an utter shambles. Avoid. Reviewed on: 16th November 2019

DO NOT USE THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS!

1
They accepted us for a policy, and then a MONTH later emailed us out of the blue saying our policy was being cancelled at the end of the day because they had changed their mind after sending documents to the underwriters! They also decided to try and charge us £75 cancellation fee for the pleasure! Of course they kept their £50 broker fee! Terrible customer service - real attitude. Moreover, they claim to use an underwriter called Marketplace Recuro, who I cannot find a single thing about on the entire web. They are cheap for a reason! We will be referring this case to the ombudsman. Seriously, there are plenty of respectable insurers around - I would suggest you pay a little bit extra for the peace of mind of not dealing with these people. Reviewed on: 14th August 2019

Horrible company to deal with

1
Horrible company to deal with. I hope I never have to claim as I'm sure it would be an absolute nightmare. I think their main problem is their call centre. I even have a call recording of one of the advisors lying to me. I tried to get my insurance sorted near the end of the day and got it paid for etc, then was being transferred through to their legal department to listen to the policy wording which is a requirement before the insurance is valid. Ended up losing signal while I was on hold so the line dropped, and when I phoned back they were closed... Fair enough, waited until the next day. Spoke to an advisor and gave him my details and asked for a call back from the legal department for the completion of the policy. The advisor seemed very distracted throughout and I got placed on hold without him actually saying why. Now comes another terrible point about this company/call centre... Whilst you're on hold, you have to press 1 to keep holding anywhere from every 1 to 4 minutes, or it cuts you off. As I did not ask the advisor to put me on hold and he did not tell me he was going to do this, I decided to hang up and phone back and hopefully get someone a little more competent who would arrange the call back. But what-do-you-know... I got the same advisor again, quite a recognisable voice and the same name. I asked him why he put me on hold without saying anything and he lied and said he has never spoken to me before. This is the gold that I have recorded, and other potential customers can judge for themselves, as I shall be uploading it to YouTube and other forms of social media in the coming days to name and shame this shambles of a company. I already gave a manager in the call centre the opportunity to deal with my complaint but I never heard anything back disappointingly, which is why I'm here. As well as this happening, when I sent them my No Claims Bonus proof from my previous insurer, there was no acknowledgment, and then a 'final demand' style email later saying I still hadn't provided it. I phoned the dreaded call centre again to ask what the issue was as I had already provided it and they said that I needed to provide either a 2018 renewal or proof letter. I said that's what I did, so the advisor put me on hold again and came back saying 'oh yes that's fine'. So someone had made a mistake there. Reviewed on: 16th December 2018

Rip off, poor communication

Avoid at all times, they are after selling policy cheap and then find excuses to cancel and charge you £55 Reviewed on: 4th July 2018

Avoid at all costs. Truly appalling service. Contacting ombudsman!

1
Truly appalling service. Unhelpful, uninformed staff. Failure to stand by statements made by their employees (or perhaps just lying). Request information that I have never before been asked for by any insurer and when I explain that I cannot provide the information because on of the insured parties is abroad they cancel the policy and charge 80% of policy cost. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

1
AVOID AT ALL COSTS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED They may come up with one of the lowest quotes, on the comparison sites. BUT PLEASE NO NOT BE FOOLED, 1. iF you sell your car and cancel or transfer the insurance policy. It will cost you £50 2. If you change address it will cost you £50 3. If you want to add/remove names driver it will cost you £50 AND IF, LIKE ME You pay upfront for the full year, then sell the car, they take £50+ they do not give you all the unused months balance you paid and....... You will be waiting at least 30 days to get the balance back. I have now been waiting over 30 days and STILL waiting my refunded balance. Reviewed on: 4th November 2017
