Shocking! Greedy Dishonest Company!

I paid for a years insurance up front in good faith, then sold my van 4 months before the end of the term.

Expecting my 4 months back minus the cancellation fee which with any other company this would be the case! I was told they were doing me a favour and waving cancellation fee, we would call it quits and I wouldn’t be charged anything but I also wouldn’t be getting my 4 months back!

I argued on the phone that if I was paying monthly, the payments would have ceased and I would have only had a £60 cancellation fee. Top and bottom of it is they have stollen £140 from me.

I have read on anoher thread from an ex-manager that the staff get bonuses for arguing with customers on the phone and keeping these payments. I also wouldnt be at all surprised if they're writing their own good comments on these review sites!

No morals what so ever! Absolute cowboys!

Do not use this company! Absolute greedy thieves!

I purchased insurance from this company via one of the comparison sites. When they called to go through everything we discovered that one detail had to change. This doubled the cost of the insurance so I decided not to go ahead. They then charged me £55 to cancel it.

I asked them to waive this charge as I regard it as unreasonable, given that I did not go ahead with the policy. They could have done, easily but they refused, repeatedly. I will never use them again and I recommend you don't. If they are this unreasonable when it comes to not-going-ahead-with-a-policy, what else are they unreasonable about?

Avoid.

Greedy dishonest profiteers

I filed the following...

I filed the following complaint:
"I am very displeased with your business practices.
When I signed on initially in 2019 I was quoted approximately £1800 p/a for this policy.
I chose to pay monthly as I needed the flexibility to cancel, as the car in question is a leasing vehicle which I was supposed to return on 30.03.2020.
I however decided to extend the lease temporarily.
What I was not aware of, is the fact that you took out a credit agreement in my name to have the policy paid upfront for 12 months and charged the interest back to me.
You possibly hid it somewhere in the small print but I find this business practice highly questionable.
I have never had any company do this, this just comes across as usury and I find it dishonest and distasteful.
So I ended up paying £190.54 per month or £2,286.48 for the year, almost £500 more than what I was quoted.
Yet, to add insult to injury you auto-renewed me this year and started charging me despite me never having signed the contract.
But due process does not appear to be of great concern to you.
Furthermore for no reason you increased the price of my policy by almost 30%.
This, despite the fact when I signed on I had 0 NCB and this year I had one year NCB with yourselves.
My price should have decreased, the utmost I would have understood if the price increase was in line with inflation.
So currently you are charging me £246.53 or £2,958.36 p/a, something I never agreed to.
This with a policy of £3000 excess, I think we can all agree this is a subpar car insurance policy.
When I spoke to one of your customer service representatives he was argumentative, repetitive and unprofessional, it felt like I am talking to a 'yob'
I hope this matter can be settled professionally, however I strongly feel this malpractice should be referred to the Ombudsman."

Their response was as braindead as the customer service advisor:
- we reject all your complaints
- we made you aware during the phone call that we
auto-renew our policies (ex post facto)
-we made you aware during the phone call that we
get another creditor involved on your behalf so we
can get the money 12 months upfront
and charge the interest back to you (ex post facto)
-Prices just change, that's it

In summary I currently must have the worst insurance policy in the UK, paying £3000+ for a standard run of the mill policy with £3000 excess provided by a shady company of brokers teaming up with a gang of loan sharks.

Well, my yearly automatic renewal came this week. I saw fit to cancel it. I phoned them up and after talking to the operator for about a minute he proceeded to cancel it. After my call, I got an email from them claiming that they were lapsing my policy, thereby claiming that I had been missing payments. I have emailed them but no answer back.
I do not trust them to allow me to have a clean break. They are insatiably greedy

I always say " you do not know how good a Insurance company is until you need to make a claim or request something", People often give positive reviews for a company offering the cheapest price, take that as a hint, First time and last time I used them, Customer service once you have paid is almost impossible to get in touch with, they have limited staff and if you want to change your policy, cancel your policy or are due a refund then this is the worst company out there ,and I have had multiple insurance policies for several cars and bikes over the last 44 years, so please if you have not choose them yet pay a few quid more and use someone else, these need to be closed down or hopefully go bust .

I am used to getting an online quote and paying for it should be simple. Tried today to avoid the issues of the bad reviews. So rang ahead to check a missing registration number for the vehicle. No problem added. Asked if there wa anything else to check or just pay. Told just pay. Tied top do that then got message that I needed to ring or would be rung and was not covered. Rang and guy again very helpful but got query after query. One answer actually dropped the quote £10. Great. Then another query would I mind holding. Waited and eventually line went dead. No call back in 2 hours so returned to insure with current insurer. no issues done in 5. I felt there was going to be a catch coming back although the quote did look attractive at the start. Whys so complex and the charge of £55 for any error or correction is quite unreasonable. What happened to the 14 days cooling off period. How do they get round this these days. Crazy.

Bought a policy via Moneysupermarket. Beware you can't complete the purchase online they have to phone you back "to confirm details" and then fleece you. The premium went up but they couldn't email me with a confirmation! The cooling off period doesn't apply so although I cancelled within 24 hours they have still relieved me of £55.00. Now covered with Churchill, service as expected. Avoid this crowd.

They indeed come relatively cheap on Go Compare but dealing with them is a nightmare. They are run by kids who have no idea about the business, use appalling IT system which generates 7 -8 documents every time there is a small amendment needed (and the required amendment is usually not reflected in any of them). Every time a confirmation or a small amendment was needed I had to call several times and exchange tons of emails. I am waiting to switch as soon as my insurance with them expires.

They come out very cheap on Go Compare but when you buy their insurance you then have to ring them. In my car the insure would not insure a standard car parked in a private car park!! When you then cancel they charge you £55.00. This is the sting and the rip off.

Shady practices would avoid.
Shady practices, not a company to recommend. Will actively try to trip you up on the answers given on the comparison website, presumably to charge you the £50 amendment fee, insisted on the exact use of the vehicle, considering it is a van and insured as SD&P only, they will presume it's for commercial use and press you for more information, also to make a charge for an amendment, god forbid I might want take my van to the beach with my dog in the back to save the mess in my car or maybe go fishing. Mileage: I was told outright if I go over my 'estimated' mileage the insurance is null and void and that I should call to inform them, guess what, another charge for that. Had a threatening email informing me that my insurance was cancelled because I hadn't called them to confirm details, this is the shady method used to suck you in to making those mistakes that they can charge you for. Three times they hung up on me, they state the call will take a 'few minutes', it doesn't. An hour later it took me to get off the phone, with my bank balance still intact. Better luck next time.

This is not a good insurance company. They are under investigation by the Financial Institutions. I insured my car with them in september but a month later I was informed my insurance was cancelled because I was listed as a director of a company. They provided information that is obsolate and asked for a proof of my current employement. My employer and I have provided them with the details but up till now no response. There are few warnings online about their dishonest tricks. https ://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/ showthread.php?t=4822851

Purchased motor insurance online and all seemed straight-forward & efficient. Once the policy was paid for, they wanted to "validate your details before we can issue your documents". After many attempts to speak to them at the telephone (long waits, incessant "your call is important to us" recording on a loop, being placed on hold & then nothing), I managed to speak to someone but I had to explain a number of times why they had asked me to call! The actual call took about 15 minutes & I thought that would be it. An email was sent to me the same day (15/10/19) enclosing my insurance documents & I was asked to activate my online account, which I did on receipt. However, I keep on getting 'phone calls requesting that I validate my details before they will release my documents! Today (16/11/19), a voicemail message suggested my insurance would be cancelled in 7 days time if I did not comply! I've tried telephoning them again only to be faced with the mind-numbing "your call is important to us" nonsense so I've emailed their Customer Service team, enclosing the email from a month ago which enclosed the documents they still maintain they won't release to me and I've asked them to sort out their mess. What an utter shambles. Avoid.
