Performance Direct Insurance Broker reviews (57)

A mind bogglingly dishonest organisation

1
Well, my yearly automatic renewal came this week. I saw fit to cancel it. I phoned them up and after talking to the operator for about a minute he proceeded to cancel it. After my call, I got an email from them claiming that they were lapsing my policy, thereby claiming that I had been missing payments. I have emailed them but no answer back. I do not trust them to allow me to have a clean break. They are insatiably greedy Reviewed on: 9th September 2020

Another genuine review by a Performance direct customer. AVOID OR GET STUNG.

I always say " you do not know how good a Insurance company is until you need to make a claim or request something", People often give positive reviews for a company offering the cheapest price, take that as a hint, First time and last time I used them, Customer service once you have paid is almost impossible to get in touch with, they have limited staff and if you want to change your policy, cancel your policy or are due a refund then this is the worst company out there ,and I have had multiple insurance policies for several cars and bikes over the last 44 years, so please if you have not choose them yet pay a few quid more and use someone else, these need to be closed down or hopefully go bust . Why so complex

3
I am used to getting an online quote and paying for it should be simple. Tried today to avoid the issues of the bad reviews. So rang ahead to check a missing registration number for the vehicle. No problem added. Asked if there wa anything else to check or just pay. Told just pay. Tied top do that then got message that I needed to ring or would be rung and was not covered. Rang and guy again very helpful but got query after query. One answer actually dropped the quote £10. Great. Then another query would I mind holding. Waited and eventually line went dead. No call back in 2 hours so returned to insure with current insurer. no issues done in 5. I felt there was going to be a catch coming back although the quote did look attractive at the start. Whys so complex and the charge of £55 for any error or correction is quite unreasonable. What happened to the 14 days cooling off period. How do they get round this these days. Crazy. Untrustworthy company - AVOID

1
Bought a policy via Moneysupermarket. Beware you can't complete the purchase online they have to phone you back "to confirm details" and then fleece you. The premium went up but they couldn't email me with a confirmation! The cooling off period doesn't apply so although I cancelled within 24 hours they have still relieved me of £55.00. Now covered with Churchill, service as expected. Avoid this crowd. Reviewed on: 30th April 2020

Bunch of profiteers, AVOID

Cancelled my insurance after selling my car. The broker refunded £101 and Performance Direct promptly took £55 as a cancellation fee, presumably charging for the 5 min call. Bunch of profiteers, AVOID. Reviewed on: 30th March 2020

charged £55 for a policy that hadn't even started due to wrong information passed to them Reviewed on: 14th March 2020

£55 fee for a 20-second phone call

£55 cancellation fees for a 20 second phone call should not be a thing. Yet with Performance Direct, they are! Edit: reference GD77XAS0000693 Please find below a statement of your account: Insurance Return Premium £ -82.93 Cancellation Fee £ 55.00 Outstanding Balance £ 0.00 Balance Due £ -27.93 AND performancedirect.co.uk tried to censor my review on another review site. Appalling, unethical behaviour. The worst insurance company ever? Reviewed on: 13th March 2020

Stay Clear Excessive charges

Unauthorised payment taken without my permission. Totally uninterested when i complained. i paid for insurance which i didn't want or even need. Make sure you don't agree to auto renew!!!! Reviewed on: 4th February 2020

Horrible service

1
They indeed come relatively cheap on Go Compare but dealing with them is a nightmare. They are run by kids who have no idea about the business, use appalling IT system which generates 7 -8 documents every time there is a small amendment needed (and the required amendment is usually not reflected in any of them). Every time a confirmation or a small amendment was needed I had to call several times and exchange tons of emails. I am waiting to switch as soon as my insurance with them expires.
