The Better Off Calculator is a tool that quickly calculates your benefit entitlement and shows you what money you may be missing out on. It shows you what steps you can take to strengthen your finances with a focus on actionable advice.

I was apprehensive about it originally, but now a big fan after using it. I think the UI has been designed well, UX is a pleasure to navigate and it's a straight forward tool to use as a resource. Reviewed on: 16th May 2025

Useful in Homelessness Services

I work in Homelessness Services and often need to consider affordability for referral purposes, and with people moving between accommodation types respectively using UC and HB for housing costs. I use the calculator myself and signpost service users and other professionals to it, especially when they are trying to make sense of a possible future change including changing work hours Reviewed on: 15th May 2025

Invaluable for professionals

I am a homelessness prevention officer at a Local Authority (council). I use this tool on a daily basis to complete benefits assessments and budgets with clients who are threatened with homelessness. It's an excellent tool, very easy to use. I've used the "help" chat function numerous times and I have always, without exception, received an immediate and helpful response.
