Vernon Building Society

Vernon are easy to use and offer some good savings products. The only issue is they prevaricate over whether to be ‘locals only’ or to allow investors from the whole country. The same savings account can switch over its life - although once a ‘non-local’ is in they stay in that account. But they might not be allowed into other accounts. Reviewed on: 31st January 2025

Quick and Easy to set up

Straight forward to set up and easy to understand shavings account. No issues at all. Very good interest rate. Reviewed on: 30th January 2025

Excellent customer service

Savings Interest rates are ok but could be higher, especially for ISAs. Customer service is excellent on the phone and in branch. Need a mobile app, or at least a mobile friendly website - doesn’t display correctly on an iPhone SE3 and the cookies options aren’t accessible - attempting to set cookie preferences leads to being unable to log in. Also doesn’t accept copy and paste of OTP from messages. Reviewed on: 29th January 2025

Excellent customer care and service

Vernon is local for me, unlike most banks they are still there. Staff are always very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They are also very prompt in replying to any emails and answering any questions or concerns you may have. Great service overall and hope they continue to stay for a long time to come.
