It is often the case that individuals with lower credit scores are not necessarily financially irresponsible, but may be facing genuine challenges such as limited access to resources, unstable income, or unforeseen life circumstances. In such situations, access to fair and supportive credit can make a meaningful difference. However, when higher interest rates are applied to these individuals, it can unintentionally increase their financial burden rather than help them recover. Instead of reducing debt, this may create additional pressure and make repayment more difficult, potentially leading to a cycle of worsening financial conditions. I understand that risk-based pricing is a standard practice in lending. At the same time, I believe there is an opportunity to further support customers by ensuring that lending solutions genuinely contribute to financial stability rather than increasing hardship, particularly for those already in vulnerable situations.
