Roof leaking claim was unreasonabily rejected because they believed the leaking was there for a long time.

We have roof leaking after rain storms last year. Because of the urgency to fix the leaking we have some roof plumber to replace the gutters and repair the roof first. After a couple of months we confirmed the leak is fixed and raised the claim to Allianz for internal damage and repair to the split system and ceiling. It was a suggestion from the property agent that we should make sure the leaking is fixed before we make a claim to the internal damages and do the repairs. However our claim was rejected because they said the leaking is there for a long time. Indeed there was no leaking after the roof repairs was carried out. The internal damages are before the roof was repaired. We have our building insurance with Allianz for more than 7 year and pay more than $1000 premium per year and never make a claim. Please think about it before you insure your property with this company. Reviewed on: 25th October 2023
