Worst home insurance

Never had any other home insurance provider but BOS. Never made any claims. This year when I had discovered concealed water leak which lead to full replacement of newish shower room. My polucy says I was covered for such events. When called insurance, been told that "ah yes you are covered, but on page 1057 of some book in very small print you are kinda not...". Needless ro say I will not be renewing with BOS. Reviewed on: 19th November 2025

Great All Round Bank

Great service.

Had our garage burnt down last year, very traumatic to wake up to that, and Bank Of Scotland were great with swift service, insurance agents out to check over everything, and efficient resolution of problem (complicated by asbestos in garage ceiling). Reviewed on: 31st August 2019

Appalling Service

Having had home insurance with The Bank of Scotland for 18 years, and the misfortune to have had a fire in my home almost 9 months ago, I have been living the nightmare of trying to get this dysfunctional, unprofessional, uncoordinated, underhanded organisation to, at least attempt, to complete the required reparations in order that I can move back to my home and out of temporary accommodation. In 9 months, all told, less than 1 weeks work has been completed. I live in a 1 bedroom flat, I currently pay them over £100 per month for home insurance and in compensation for the utter hell they have subjected me to I have been offered £500-I’ve paid them more in insurance in the period I’ve waited for them to arrange the repairs! Don’t be like me and learn the hard way that loyalty means nothing to this company. Reviewed on: 25th March 2019

Home Insurance

Bank of Scotland is my bank and I am very pleased with them for that. Now, sadly, like many other insurers, they give a fantastic deal when you first get insurance with them and then the insurance increased exponentially as the years go by. I have a first floor one bedroom flat in a tenement, have never claimed, minimal content and they expect me to pay £607.11 per year (building and content)!!!! I phoned them this morning, very good customer service, they miraculously offered to take it down to £204 per year although I have not managed to get the detailed breakdown yet as I lost the connection and need to contact them again, only thing I know is that it no longer includes legal liabilities which is a bit of a bother. I have not made my final decision yet but insurance becoming extortionate is really disappointing as I trust the bank otherwise. I cannot rate them beyond 2 stars for home insurance.
