By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Just what was needed

I realised that during Covid, I was hardly using my car compared to the daily 112 mile treck I had been doing each day to get to and from work. When comparing insurance quotes, the driving factor ( unintended pun ) for other insurers were me and my claims history, my age, the car I drove and that was about it. This gave me a policy price that would be the same if I drove 6 or 112 miles every day. The By Miles quote did take this important factor into consideration, so in June, when I did very few miles, I was given a very small charge to pay and in September, when I know I will be driving a lot more, I plan to budget for this. I came to ByMiles as I work from home and wondered what I could save by only paying for the miles that I actually drive which is an incredible concept. I was skeptical at first but over a year of being with them and can honestly say it's brilliant. Makes so much sense to those that work from home like myself. Couldn't be happier. 100% reccommend!
