Single parent with poor credit rating

I’m a single mother, responsible for 3 children, poor credit rating, works full time, with a mortgage, received no maintenance from my ex - Coventry Credit Union enabled me to buy Christmas presents for my children with a £500 starter loan which I repaid and I was then able to borrow larger amounts.
