Review of the Habito, Mortgage Broker:

Habito almost cost me my mortgage and house purchase

Almost cost me my mortgage and unhelpful when the bank screwed up. I applied for a mortgage last April through Habito. However, the lack of support and "greenness" of the Habito team meant that I had to wait 3 months for my mortgage to be approved, and was given false information multiple times. Here are reasons why you shouldn't go with Habito: - despite being "online first", the application tracker is not really updated by Habito or granular enough in terms of the mortgage steps. So it is close to useless. - during the entire process, my mortgage case was passed to more than 5 Habito employees, like a conveyor belt, each one only responsible for a stage of the process. There was no continuity - there is an online chat function, which is easier than email or phone. But that is only if your case manager replies promptly. Many times I was left waiting more than 24 hours for a reply, and had to call to chase. - I was provided wrong information multiple times. The worst was when I was told by my case manager that my mortgage had been final approved, which is the step before exchange. Only to be told two days later that it was a mistake. The other time I was told that the valuation survey had been completed. But two weeks later, I was told it had not. So if you want a trusted pair of hands with your house purchase and mortgage process, stick to a professional, tried and tested old school mortgage broker. I get the feeling that Habito is just a fancy website, lots of VC money, and very green operational managers who think they can just hire a team to man a chat/call centre. But mortgage brokering can be complicated, unfortunately Habito is of no help if things go wrong with your mortgage process. Secured mortgage and improved my confidence

I came to Habito very lost and unsure on how to secure a good mortgage. My engagement had just fallen through and I was being bought out of my house by my ex-fiancé, the original mortgage broker I went to told me that due to eligibility I’d have to place an extremely large deposit which quite simply I wouldn’t afford. I came to Habito and was reassured that they would be able to get me a mortgage with a deposit I could afford, they’ve been reassuring thorough-out and have massively helped me through this period. Habito has made choosing a new mortgage really easy

I am not at all savvy around mortgages and my advisor Raj went the extra mile, working with me over a period of weeks to find the right options - switching back and forth between variable rate and fixed, explaining all the options and the benefits of each type of product - further, when i got a bit stuck as the banks are constantly changing the rates Raj gave me a ring and we walked methodically through my options. Mortgages for introverts

I like to everything online, via live chat wherever possible, so Habito has been perfect for me. Everything's right there in the dashboard and the various guides covering the steps involved are well written and easy to understand. My one issue, and why I've rated 4 stars instead of 5, is that I feel like having a basic understanding of mortgages and an idea of what you're after before you start is essential. While I'm happy with the results I got, I felt like I needed to guide a lot of the conversation myself rather than being advised on what's best for me. That issue aside, it's been a great service working to my own preferences for communication, and I'll happily use them again come renewal time. Reviewed on: 31st March 2023

Raj Bathia was impeccable in his duty as mortgage broker

When looking for a mortgage I was dealing with a gentleman called Raj Bathia, from start to finish Raj displayed expert knowledge in his field whilst also being very personable and effortlessly delivered amongst the best service I’ve received from a mortgage broker (I’ve used several). Should the opportunity arise I would absolutely go to him again. I can’t speak highly enough of Raj. If applying for a mortgage through Habito I would absolutely recommend Raj Bathia.
