Absolutely shocking company.

Absolutely shocking company. If you are thinking about taking a policy with this company please think again. I have been a customer for 3 years... Absolutely shocking company. If you are thinking about taking a policy with this company please think again. I have been a customer for 3 years and I have just tried to make a claim you get passed around and then they all contradict each other. I got told because it’s the end of the financial year they are extra strict on payouts so basically don’t let anything happen at the end of the financial year. The add on of home emergency is pointless as they don’t provide a report my report consisted of 3 sentences and then the insurance company then told me to get 3 builders to come and do me 3 reports as they couldn’t accept the report from home emergency which they sold me with my policy as they aren’t qualified builders or tradesman so waste of money just people who want the call-out fee. This is all why my roof is collapsing. I have never made a claim and I just think that yes the website might be easy to use but please don’t buy insurance with this company as I have found out that it’s not worth the paper it’s written on. The other thing is I was told basically if my house burnt down I might be covered. So please don’t make a claim at the end or beginning of the financial year as advised by one of their advisors as they have to balance the books. Read more Read less

They have their own rules - you say your house will cost x to rebuild, they randomly add value to that (in case building costs... They have their own rules - you say your house will cost x to rebuild, they randomly add value to that (in case building costs go up). But if it costs more (based on their EXPERT opinion), they only pay a % of the total claim. Then I am having some building work done, and they refuse to cover all sorts of things - all they will cover is if something drops from a plane or an earthquake. Even the gentleman I spoke to was surprised and said it made no sense. I won't be touching them again. Read more Read less

Now told me I need to have a Damage Report which wasnt stipulated when I was told i could get the repairs done myself. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL experience avoid like the plague.     DO NOT USE HOMEPROTECT

    Don't waste your money, you'll never get a pay out if you claim. They work incredibly hard to provide evidence the claim can't progress due... I've spent the last 4 months jumping through hoops; pictures, quotes, videos and they are still looking for an excuse to stop the claim despite being initially told it was fine and was offered a cash settlement, but before I could receive it they passed it on to a loss adjustor who started asking for everything all over again. Its the most frustrating situation, so don't bother, you might as well put your monthly payments in a savings account for the inevitable. Homeprotect are the worst Read more Read less

    THE MARK OF A GOOD INSURER IS WHEN YOU TRY TO CLAIM!

In January 2024, during a cold snap, the water main supply pipe for our property burst. We were relieved to discover that our insurance with Home Protect covers the repair of the pipe, but the relief was short lived. Nearly nine months later and our burst pipe still hasn't been fixed, and there has been hundreds of litres of water leeching into the ground daily during this period. My wife and I have spent hours on the phone trying to get this issue resolved, without success. To make matters worse, the handling of our claim has been handed off to several different companies, each supposedly necessary to ensure the matter is resolved, but sadly it has been months of obfuscation, misinformation, zero communication, and a litany of excuses and ineptitude. The only communication we have received is to say that "we are waiting for a report," or "this is being escalated so we can get it resolved," or "we're waiting to hear from X, so we can get yet another report, which will say exactly the same thing as all the other numerous reports which we've been waiting for, but nobody knows what to report, or who to report it to, because we haven't got a clue about anything!" We currently have an Olympic sized swimming pool forming right next to our house, with the potential risk of water damage to the foundations, and when we try to convey the seriousness of the matter in hope of action being taken, we are just met with silence, or a poor attempt to convince us that they are taking the matter seriously.     Beyond Awful Service

    Huge renewal increase and poor account management.

    I received two emails from Home Protect regarding the renewal of my home insurance. The first said that they had tried to take a payment... I received two emails from Home Protect regarding the renewal of my home insurance. The first said that they had tried to take a payment for auto-renewal but the payment request had been refused. The second said, correctly, that I didn't have auto renewal set. Neither mentioned the renewal amount. When I contacted the company I realised why they had tried to auto-renew without telling me for how much. The premium increase was an enormous 60%. I was easily able to find another (better) policy for a reasonable amount with a Which? recommended company. Read more Read less

    Tried to take unauthorised payment

    Home protect couldn't decide whether I had automatic renewal or not. So they sent me an email telling me that I had, but that their... Home protect couldn't decide whether I had automatic renewal or not. So they sent me an email telling me that I had, but that their attempt to take a payment had been declined. The sent me a second email saying that I did not have automatic renewal and that I had to pay manually. At no time did they tell me the renewal amount. When I telephoned to find the cost it became clear why they had been reluctant to tell me. The increase was enormous. I learnt my lesson and moved to a different company with a better policy for less money. Read more Read less
