Simple, safe, excellent

Rooster has been a wonderful way for our teenaged children to transition from pocket money in hand & piggy banks to learning how to use money in a more grown-up way. They take full advantage of the savings elements, and allocate pocket money and present money to various ring fenced pots. It is allowed them to use eBay and online retailers safely, with no risk of overspend. The parental app works beautifully and the ability to transfer money instantly to sort out changed travel arrangements etc. is v helpful. I only wish we had started using it sooner: our eldest is navigating adult & student bank accounts now and I think he would have benefitted from a few years of RoosterMoney’s light-touch introduction to money management. Its been great for our childrens learning

So far so good

I hav eisgned up to rooster money recently for my son who is 7. His older brothers have just opened their own bank account with a debit card so I was looking fr something that would work for my youngest so he didn't feel like he was missing out. So far Rooster money has made this happen and my youngest loves the app. It works great for tracking chores too. Excellent for teaching financial independence

Rooster Money has been brilliant for helping my son to better understand the value of money. He’s been able to be more independent but in a safe way. I can see what he’s spent, put limits on how much and where he can spend money but he can now buy things he wants with his own card. Reviewed on: 15th February 2021

A great intro to money for all ages

This has been a great experience for my two kids. The eldest has a bank card that can be used out and about and online, and we can all see and discuss spending openly. It's also great to be able to set up chores and rewards to keep them motivated around the house. For the younger child we use stars as rewards, as stars are used at school as well. All stars from home and school go into a spend pot, which is saved until a goal amount is reached, which can then be converted to cash for spending. If there's a downside to all this it's the user interface. It's good but it needs some improvement to make it more intuitive. That said you do learn your way around over time, and it's very easy on the eye in the meantime. Reviewed on: 14th February 2021

Great way to teach the kids about money

We use Rooster money with our two boys - 12 and 6 - the app caters for the needs of these two separate age groups perfectly- card for the older one with great control over his spending - and star points for the younger one. The app allows the children to submit their completed tasks for approval so helps them be proactive in earning their pocket money. The app could really use a bit more UX testing - chores and one-off money boosts don't work quite as well as hoped, but all in all Rooster Money does what we need it to do. I love it!

Having these accounts for our three children means I never forget to give them pocket money! They have learnt to save a percentage of their money and to set themselves goals. And importantly, the contactless card has meant they can still spend their own money at a time when people aren’t using cash. Reviewed on: 14th February 2021
