A Brilliant Way to Teach Kids Real Money Skills

5
We’ve been using the NatWest Rooster Card for a while now and it’s honestly been a really helpful way to introduce the kids to managing their own money. They love having their own card, and I like that I can still keep an eye on what they’re spending and set limits if needed. The app makes it easy to top up their pocket money, create savings pots, and track where everything’s going in real time. One feature we’ve found especially useful is the chores section. You can set up regular tasks that need to be completed before allowance is paid, or add extra one-off jobs they can do to earn a bit more on top. They tick them off in the app and you approve it, which means they’re starting to connect the dots between earning and spending instead of pocket money just appearing out of thin air. You can even tie their allowance directly to completed chores or reward them separately for extra help around the house. It’s a great stepping stone for building confidence with spending and saving without the worry of them going overdrawn since it’s prepaid. Reviewed on: 18th February 2026

Offering responsibility and Independence.

We’ve been using Rooster Money for over 5 years now and honestly, it’s been brilliant for our family. We’ve never had any problems topping up, and everything has always run smoothly for us. My daughter absolutely loves having her own account and card – it really gives her a sense of independence and responsibility. She enjoys tracking her balance, setting savings goals, and managing her own spending. It’s been such a positive way to teach her about money in a way that feels grown-up but still safe and controlled. I’d definitely recommend it to other parents looking for a simple, reliable way to help their children learn about managing money. Reviewed on: 18th February 2026
