AVOID AT ALL COSTS

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. My car was stolen and they refused to pay out, you can only talk to passive aggressive chat assistants who are desperate to get you off their log and will kick you off the chat if you so much as sneeze and force you to repeat yourself. They then cancelled my policy after racking up huge costs and then voided my insurance one week before the end of the policy and refused to pay out even though I managed to track the car thieves myself and retrieve the car. Biggest mistake I made in 2023

One Call should rename their service….Do not bother to call! £30 New business surcharge, who on earth charges for new customers. Then in cooling off period, should you wisely change your mind and decide not to take up policy, there is a £49.99 charge to cancel policy before it even starts. In my case I have now received a letter charging me for a misrepresented claims history (fictitious) which I am unable to query as chat line disconnected me from 3 rd in queue after 15 minute wait. Crap service!!! Avoid like the plague.

The website is completely useless. I have my van insured and cannot access the "customer portal" to have a live chat!!! I can't even get in to cancel my policy so I can use a more efficient and decent company. DO NOT waste your time with these clowns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reviewed on: 6th July 2023

Terrible company

My car was vandalised driver/passenger door kicked in reported to police made a claim well they have come up several reasons why not to pay for the repairs firstly because I didn’t tell them I had a part time bar job and they don’t insure bar staff then I was using the car to commute to work which I don’t I only live 10 mins from my work place, they have denied my claim saying it was an accident and I commute and now my insurance may be invalid but they can’t/won’t tell me if it has been cancelled absolute shysters Reviewed on: 5th July 2023

Expensive and a dreadful customer service

I was quoted £244 to insure my motor car which I accepted and paid in full, there was an additional charge of £27.74 which I was unaware of. The insurance certificate was not made available until nine days after payment. I did make an error in stating that my no claims were nine years when in fact it was eight. I was then charged an extra £92.33 bringing the cost of my policy to £366. I enquired on the chat service about cancelling the policy and was told that it would cost £85 to cancel. There was a cancellation fee of £49.99 plus a fee of 35.04 for time insured for nine days. I would not recommend One Call to anyone as the eventual costs can become much higher than the original quote, the is no telephone service and the chat line will cut you off. In all, the service provided by One Call is expensive and dreadful. Reviewed on: 5th July 2023

A totally incompetent outfit

Tried making a car insurance claim - it was so painful and chat with their BOT as they don’t have a phone line to talk properly on the phone, or if they do, it’ll drive you towards their chat BOT and you’ll end up wasting hours and hours trying to get any sense out of One Call Insurance, AVOID . Be VERY Careful - Took Ombudsman to Resolve

I insured my family car (fully comp) through One Call Insurance as they appeared competitive. I was involved in a collision and given a settlement value for write off which was agreed but days later cut by approx two thirds as they’d made an error. I disputed this and then my insurance was declared void, effectively making me uninsured and liable. They cited a 'modification' which was in fact a straight swap, consumable service part. Staff would not listen and directors ignored my letters. From the Ombudsman's Final Decision; 'One Insurance originally explained that any part fitted to a car that was not a factory fitted part constituted a modification ... if this were correct, most cars wouldn’t be insured given the routine changes numerous car parts go through during a car’s lifetime of MOT’s, services and repairs as well as tyres changes – many with non-factory fitted parts' The real test of any company is when you are in a fix and need their help. In my experience this company appeared to take gleeful pleasure in throwing me to the wolves as though I'd been uninsured when they were challenged. This was a terrifying experience for 18 months and potentially left me exposed to many thousands of pounds of expense. Be very careful who you insure with and look for reviews from people who can say more than, “they were all very lovely when they took my premium”.
