Nightmare from start to finish

1
I took out a policy online through Compare the market paid the full £300 for the year upfront a month before the policy was due to start. A week later I received a text message warning me my policy may be cancelled, no explanation. I tried to contact one call but the only option for contact was an online live chat and I was number 31 in a queue. Finally when I got through I was told their database was saying I had an outstanding claim from 2 years prior, which was NOT true and their database was wrong. They told me if I could not get proof the claim was closed they would cancel my policy and withhold £49.99 of my £300 payment as they have no cooling off period and would charge me a cancellation fee. I had to spend 2 hours contacting my insurance company from 2 years previous who verified the case was closed and provided me with proof via email. I then has to go back online with one call live chat, wait again before talking to somebody there, who was reluctant to accept an email from LV as proof as I could "alter the information". The email was official, headed and had all the contact information for verification. I forwarded the email to one call, who finally accepted the information provided, I was not happy with the service provided but they refused to cancel the policy and refund my money, even though the policy wasn't due to start for 3 weeks and I had only taken it out 7 days beforehand. I have had to stay with an incompetent car insurance company for the next year because I couldn't afford to lose the money I'd paid. Would not recommend and next year I will be finding a new insurer. Beware

1
Beware this broker. They will charge you for anything. I mean anything. If you ask to send letters to a work address they will assume that has become a liability even though you were working there at the start of the insurance and you tell them this they will assume you're lying and still take another £280 straight out your bank account. If you complain they will threaten to charge you a cancellation charge and also if you happened to have a claim on an accident they will threaten to not pay the claim and put all the costs on you. You've been warned. Reviewed on: 20th July 2020

Please avoid this company

Beware, they lure you in with cheap quotes and then the bully tactics start. You will regret taking out any kind of policy with them. Reviewed on: 25th April 2020

Company is a SCAM, its better to have Coronavirus than these Cowboys

My car was stolen, I also took out a separate GUARANTEED Hire car cover at the same time as insuring my car. You will see One Call Doncaster has 5 Stars for service. Well that's because all they do is speak to you and take your premiums. Wait until you make a claim, then the fun really starts. You find you are not insured for anything, I was told because my car was stolen my GUARANTEED Car hire was not valid, neither was the option of a Courtesy car . My car was found the next day and Police close the case in July 2019. I am still fighting to get any money back for my stolen car end March 2020 (9 months). The company keeps changing its name, your insured in Malta not UK. You do not deal with One Call, I had to deal with Commercial Legal, you now deal with a different company to that. Claims handlers just slow time for everything, then they offer you a derisory value after months which will be way below your expectations. Its a business that cannot fail, they take thousands of premiums and pay nothing or very little out. You have been warned, if you never have a claim they are Excellent. If you have a claim they will be your worst nightmare, pay 100 or 150 pounds more for a reputable company, and then you will be safe. My niece had her car wrote of with Direct Line, she was paid out in full within 2 days, yes its true. I am 9 months later and now taking court action, OCL Solicitors are part of the group. Stay away you have been warned. Reviewed on: 28th March 2020

RIP OFF MERCHANTS

1
Appalling company - RIP OFF ATTEMPT I took insurance with this company... Attempted to should I say. I took out the insurance online and was advised by their email that I would receive my documents within the next 30 mins and that I was not bound by or protected before this..... 2 Hours give or take - taking a cab all the way home as I couldn't collect the car I wanted to purchase. Called at 8am the next morning, payment still showing as authorised but not taken out yet, these JOKERS wanted to charge me £49.99 for insurance I NEVER GOT!!! They hadn't even taken payment yet and thought they could scam me out of that! The 'customer service' agent, yea right, tried pulling the T's & C's, luckily I read them too, and when I asked for a manager she quickly said "ohhh the payment has been made void and will be refunded". DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY, absolute clowns! Reviewed on: 9th March 2020

not so much one call, more one big rip off

Phoned one call to inform that Royal Mail has changed my postcodes last 2 digits. They got back to me telling me they had to cancel my current policy and a new one would cost me £1400. When I said I would go elsewhere they said they are going to bill me cancellation charges, even though they are the ones cancelling it. See you in court One call. Reviewed on: 27th January 2020

Stay Away!

My car insurance was automatically renewed, I only noticed once the money was taken. I contacted One Call Insurance 1 day after it renewed, they charged me £60+ to cancel the policy. They were not interested in discussing it, only stating I had agreed to the terms and conditions. What happened to 14 day cool off period? I feel like I've been scammed. Am I a victim of crime?

1
I had a vehicle policy (standard private vehicle, Fully comp Soc and Dom, recovery, courtesy car, foreign travel inc) with OneCall for a year, a year in which I had a continually poor level of service. Trying to get through the call system to speak with someone was the a rigmarole of option after option. I had to change my vehicle part-way and got stung with an admin charge plus a compulsory increase on my excess taking me from £100 to £400. To cancel would have been crippling, and the call taker represented them to a tee i.e. ruthless. I took my car abroad, and was the victim of the most minor hit and run. I did my best to find an independent repairer but all found it a bit awkward or quoted silly money. The policy was coming up to renewal time and I was conscious not to delay further so I called. The call-centre spent half an hour taking details. Then they referred me to One-Call (why?) whereupon I was interrogated for a further 30 mins. At the conclusion they said I would be referred to a third department who would call me back in a few days. After nearly a month I had no call so I complained. I was then suddenly contacted by their selected repairer (via a message service, no human being) saying it had been authorized. Their repairer told me the cost would be in the region of £600 (not the figures I'd been getting independently). A week went by and I was told the insurer had agreed the quote and to make arrangements. The repairer then mucked me about with multiple calls and text messages trying to book me in and provide a courtesy car. In the meantime I'd had my first renewal quote through the post...they'd dropped the compulsory excess they'd hit me with and the price was a moderate hike on the previous quote. I was already disatisfied and so contacted them and told them NOT to automatically renew. It took half an hour of negotiating before they confirmed that they'd agree to CANCEL the renewal! Then the final straw...days before lapse I got ANOTHER renewal quote through the post...the cost had DOUBLED and the excess had gone back to the extortionate level they'd hit me with. But that's not all...today I get a call from the repairer. OneCall have refused to honour the courtesy car as I had refused to renew the policy. No such clause was declared to me when I agreed the contract. I can't even see how that would be legal, and potentially it borders on Fraud by False Representation. I am obviously going to have to complain again, and it's a tiresome process with this company. I have told no untruths, have fulfilled my part of the contract. They might be 'cheap' but you get what you pay for. Bad service with a rip-off at every turn. Reviewed on: 15th November 2019

Charge £50 to cancel day after puchased

1
Took out insurance based on VFM. When recieved docs realised it was an Ageas policy and read reviews. Decided to cancel within cooling off period. They have charged me £50 to cancel!!! I have read further into their practices and find they charge huge amounts for trivial work. Do not touch. Which magazine give them the lowest rating. Reviewed on: 31st October 2019
