Great features, but untrustworthy results

Policy in Practice's Better Off Calculator has the potential to be the best product of its kind, allowing even for complex calculations such as those involving student income. However, occasionally the calculation results are wildly incorrect. While I am able to recognise this as a trained benefit adviser, I worry for members of the public who may trust the results. INVALUABLE TOOL FOR BENEFITS BETTER OFF CALCULATIONS

Policy in Practice Better off calculator keeps getting better. Features are updated regularly to keep up with changes in benefits regulations; easy to understand; easy to follow and the three sections are laid out in a very user friendly manner. Reviewed on: 26th July 2023

Best Calculator

This is the easiest calculator to use. The information boxes give more insight to the question being asked. It does not take as long as the others. You can also change situations such as childcare cost, housing cost, working hours easily without having to start again. Working out the difference in legacy and uc payments is also handy. On the results page it gives useful information on important things that have impacted the results such as bedroom tax or overlapping premiums. There is also a huge section on additional support available that can be forwarded to clients to look in there own time. The only negative thing i would say is it takes quite a few minutes to download a calculation. Reviewed on: 12th July 2023
