Having started a personal account with Starling Bank with great satisfaction, I decided to open a Business Account too. The process was easy. The questionnaire to fill with online guide was easy to follow. I was really pleased to see how fast and efficiently the account was opened and the details of conditions, terms and accounts information given to me. We started a business more by accident during Covid, not having much experience in banking and all ‘traditional’ banks closed, we where recommended Starling. As a start up at this time access to mainstream banks have been restricted to those with whom these banks decide to do business with not a prospective enterprise such as ours. We found the services provided by Starling are at least an equal to but normally far exceed those offered by the old school banks. Starling have taken the time to create a service which is reactive to the needs of small businesses, easily accessible and links intuitively to other digital platforms. This isn’t. A self fulfilling prophecy that tech will conquer all but a reaction and perception of where the needs of both operational everyday banking and payments but of the fiscal duties and obligations we have. As a litmus teat we asked our accountant which platform we should chose as an ideal and what could we use until we were able to get by with until we could pass the previous trading criteria. Her response was Starling will be great for immediate needs and there was no reason she could see that such an adaptable platform would not be able to satisfy no matter how far the company goes. For me personally I have had no experience of friendly calls to carry out a check up on my account and offer to sell me insurance I don’t need or a mortgage I don’t want. This again is a great selling point as being cold called by my own bank is, in my option , at best a sales call using privileged information.
