Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Soon to be debt free.

I am in the final months from being debt free. At the beginning of my journey I could have lost my family and my house - a hopeless situation but with the support of Stepchange and I have thankfully maintained both. I’m back in control of my life

Step change has helped me to take control of my debt and pay it off. They contacted all my creditors and arranged payment plans with them and they agreed to stop adding interest to the debt. on the few occasions I have needed to contact step change they have been informative and compassionate.
