I have insured my boat with G J W Direct Marine Insurance for several years. Whenever I have had any enquiries they have helped resolve them in a clear and helpful manner. Registering a claim was easy.

We damaged the propeller on our narrowboat but we were not able to arrange our boat to be lifted out of the water until we got back to our home moorings, which happened to be about three weeks away! Immediately after the damage happened, we hit an underwater unidentified object, I rang GJW insurance and spoke with the a lady who could not have been more helpful, or polite, as it happens. It was many months before we were able to get someone to check out our propeller but I checked with GJW again and was told that the incident was still active and there was no rush from their side for a claim to be made should it be necessary. In the end the repair was done through the weed hatch and no claim made. It was reassuring to know that there was no time limit on claiming as long as they were kept informed of the situation. This certainly somewhat alleviated the stress of not having to find a suitable boat engineer away from our home marina, meaning we could use our known and trusted marine mechanic. Ten out of ten for GWJ Insurance. Reviewed on: 24th September 2025

Very professional and excellent ser.vice

Have insured through GJW for 19 years, very good service throughout particularly when I had a major claim when another boat rammed me. GJW claims department was very professional liaising with surveyors, myself and boat yard ., leading to a successful outcome. Reviewed on: 24th September 2025
