I honestly could not have asked for a better experience with GJW Direct. After suffering storm damage to my boat, I expected a slow, frustrating claims process filled with paperwork and generic call-centre responses. Instead, GJW Direct handled the entire situation with speed, professionalism, and genuine human care from start to finish. The claims process was exceptionally efficient. Communication was clear at every stage, updates were proactive, and I never felt like I had to chase anyone for answers. What really stood out was how knowledgeable and experienced the claims team were when dealing with storm damage specifically. They understood the urgency, the technical aspects of marine repairs, and the emotional stress that comes with seeing your boat damaged. Unlike many insurers today, GJW Direct still provides real human customer service. I was able to speak directly with helpful people who understood boating and had authority to make decisions. The underwriting team were also excellent — pragmatic, fair, and clearly focused on long-term customer relationships rather than looking for excuses to reduce cover or delay settlement. The value for money is outstanding considering the level of cover and service provided. It’s rare to find an insurer that combines competitive pricing with genuinely premium support, but GJW Direct absolutely delivers both. The entire experience gave me enormous confidence that my boat is properly protected. Based on my experience, GJW Direct deserves to be recognised as one of the best boat insurers in the UK. Their combination of fast claims handling, specialist marine knowledge, responsive underwriting, and truly personal customer service sets them apart from most insurers in the market. Think Twice Before Choosing This Insurer

I was the victim of a no-fault boating collision. Liability was clear from the outset, and GJW insured the other party. Despite this, GJW stalled at every single opportunity — delaying, deflecting, and refusing to deal with the claim in a fair and timely manner. What should have been a straightforward resolution became an exhausting and unnecessary battle. Their conduct left me with no alternative but to issue court proceedings against their insured. Only when faced with legal action did GJW finally agree to settle. In my experience, they demonstrated the very worst traits you would hope never to see in an insurer: obstruction, delay, and a complete lack of accountability. I have formally submitted complaints to the Insurance Ombudsman regarding their handling of this claim. If you’re considering insurance options, my advice is simple: look elsewhere.
