Serious Concerns About Data Accuracy

My experience with Zego Van Insurance has been extremely disappointing and concerning. Zego insure only my personal vehicle, which I drive approximately 5,000 miles per year. However, I also drive a separate work vehicle, insured with a completely different insurer, for around 30,000 miles per year. Despite this, Zego appear to be collecting and using driving data from my work vehicle and applying it to my personal policy, even though that vehicle has nothing to do with Zego. Mileage Accuracy & Financial Risk I repeatedly asked Zego how they differentiate between: The vehicle they insure (personal), and A vehicle they do not insure (work) I never received a clear, consistent explanation. Initially, I was told that work‑vehicle data could be excluded, only for Zego to later reverse this without explanation. This results in my personal mileage being artificially inflated, which creates serious risks for the customer, including: Higher premiums Allegations of exceeding declared mileage Potential complications or disputes in the event of a claim This is fundamentally unfair when the miles in question relate to a vehicle not insured by Zego. Data Protection & Transparency Concerns I raised concerns about: Inaccurate data being held against my policy Lack of transparency about how driving data is sourced and applied Use of data outside its original purpose Whether there is a lawful basis for using non‑policy vehicle data I requested clarification, a data review/correction, and a copy of my personal data. These requests were not properly answered. Complaint Handling Customer service has been extremely poor. I have been: Passed repeatedly between live chat agents Given generic responses that avoided my actual questions Unable to speak to anyone with appropriate authority or technical understanding There was no sense of ownership or urgency, despite the seriousness of the issue. Overall This experience has left me with no confidence in how Zego handle mileage, data accuracy, or customer complaints. If an insurer cannot reliably separate insured and non‑insured vehicle data, customers are exposed to unnecessary financial and legal risk. I will be escalating this matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Information Commissioner’s Office. Rating: 1 star I would not recommend Zego to anyone who drives more than one vehicle or expects transparent and fair treatment. Reviewed on: 30th April 2026

0 STAR – WORST INSURANCE COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. AVOID ZEGO AT ALL COSTS. Zego is an absolute disgrace. Their customer service is appalling and their so-called “technology” is completely broken. The driving-monitoring app, which acts as a sensor, is a joke and clearly not fit for purpose. I have been a safe, careful driver for over 25 years. I chose Zego only because the price looked cheaper than other insurers and I was confident my driving would easily meet their standards. Most of my driving is below 30 mph — school runs, Tesco, gym, local roads. Yet their faulty app rated my driving as ZERO. Zero. That is beyond ridiculous. After 30 days, they started sending threatening warnings saying my insurance could be cancelled if I didn’t “improve”. This caused huge anxiety — not knowing when they might suddenly cancel, force me into much more expensive insurance, disrupt my daily life, and potentially leave a black mark on my record that could affect future premiums. When I decided to move to a better insurer, the nightmare continued. Initially, via their so-called “chat-first” support (no proper human support, only bots and scripts), I was told I could cancel on a future date. Later, I was told the exact opposite — that I cannot schedule a future cancellation and must come back on the exact day, go through their long, painful bot interrogation again, and only then find out if I would even get any refund before being allowed to cancel. Complete contradiction, total chaos, and clearly designed to trap customers and delay exits. When I finally cancelled, they charged me £100for just a ONE DAY of cover, when the total annual policy was only £850. This feels like daylight robbery. are not an insurance company — they operate like a trap. They lure you in with cheap prices, then use broken tracking technology, threats of cancellation, confusing processes, and extortionate exit fees to squeeze money out of you. In the event of a real claim, I have absolutely no confidence they would stand by you. Insurance is meant to give peace of mind. Zego delivers fear, stress, uncertainty, and financial loss. Do not be fooled by their low price. Do not trust their app. Do not trust their processes. Do not trust their intentions. Worst in the business. System designed to intimidate and extract money. Faulty Telematics Tracking Ruined My Driving Score

I recently took out a telematics policy with Zego that was due to start on 17 February. However, as soon as I installed the telematics app it began recording all of my movements, not just when I was driving. The app logged journeys when I was a passenger in an Uber, on buses, and even on trains, and these trips were counted toward my driving data. As a result, the system recorded frequent “harsh events” (often 25+), which quickly pushed my driving score into the red and marked me as “at risk,” despite the fact that many of those journeys were not me driving at all. There was also no way to speak to a real person directly. Support appears to be handled through automated chat, and it was never clear whether I was actually communicating with a human or not. This made it very difficult to resolve what seemed to be an obvious problem with the telematics tracking. To their credit, once I raised the issue and cancelled the policy, Zego refunded my payment minus a £49 admin fee. However, the experience with the telematics system and lack of direct customer support made the service frustrating to deal with. Reviewed on: 5th March 2026

Request for Refund for Incorrect Insurance Charges

Dear Zego Team, I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding motor insurance charges applied to my account for shifts completed on 8 December 2025, and to request a refund for those charges. attached to this email. Background On 8 December 2025, I completed delivery shifts with Stuart and Deliveroo. I was using a bicycle, not a car, during these shifts. At that time, my request to change my transport type from bicycle to car was still under review with all three providers. My car transport type was approved only on 9 December 2025, which I have already shared screenshots to confirm. I contacted Zego support on multiple occasions and explained clearly that: • I was riding a bicycle on 8 December • My car was not approved by the platforms until 9 December • Motor insurance was set up only to allow provider review, not because I was using a car for deliveries Issue Zego charged me for motor insurance for shifts worked on 8 December, despite the fact that: • I had no approved car transport type with Stuart, Deliveroo, or Just Eat on that date • I was physically completing deliveries by bicycle • The providers have confirmed they cannot issue documents specifying vehicle type for past shifts, which is beyond my control. I was informed that a refund cannot be issued without official provider documents confirming bicycle use. However, such documentation is not available, and I believe this requirement is unreasonable, as: • Vehicle approval dates clearly show my car was not active until 9 December • It is illogical to assume car usage before car approval was granted Why I Believe a Refund Is Justified • My car transport type approval on 9 December proves I could not have used a car on 8 December • The insurance setup was purely administrative, required by platforms for review • I did not benefit from motor insurance cover while riding a bicycle • I acted in good faith and disclosed all relevant information Request I respectfully request that Zego: 1. Reviews this case at the management level 2. Issues a refund for the motor insurance charges applied on 8 December 2025 3. Confirms the outcome in writing If this matter cannot be resolved internally, I would appreciate details of the next escalation steps, including external complaints procedures. Scam company

They keep telling me that they are cancelling my policy for not keeping my drivers score high enough, even though i keep meeting their target. They threatened me that if i didn't cancel my policy with them, they would cancel it and i would struggle to get a policy elsewhere. Their app seemed to fluctuate on the stats that i know for a fact should be 100% (specifically the resting stat, I'm a window cleaner, so i only drive for short bursts of up to 0 minutes before having a rest period of 15/30 minutes). They also charged me for cancelling the policy even though they had threatened me into it. This company stinks of foul play, the other reviews seem to be copy and paste style reviews, the Facebook page rarely gets many interactions, none of this adds up. Avoid like the plague. Extremely Poor Service – A Warning to Future Customers I am writing this review after over a month of daily frustration with this insurance company, and I feel it’s my responsibility to warn others. I am currently paying for a policy I’m not using, and despite my repeated requests, the company refuses to cancel it or issue a refund. Even worse, I’ve been trying to simply change the vehicle on the policy, and they’ve failed to do that as well. Every time I contact support, I receive a different explanation from a different agent. There is no consistency, no clear communication, and absolutely no accountability. I was told a manager would contact me three days ago — I’m still waiting. These kinds of promises have become routine and never fulfilled. This experience has made it clear to me that the company is not trustworthy. If it’s this difficult to resolve a basic administrative issue, I can’t imagine what would happen in the event of a serious accident or claim. It is deeply concerning. The way they’ve handled my situation feels not only unprofessional but deceptive. It gives the impression that they’re more interested in keeping my money than providing any real service or support. To anyone considering this insurance: please be very careful. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them under any circumstances.
