Review of the A Choice, Insurance Broker:

GREAT UNTIL YOU NEED THEM

1
Great provider until you have an accident and then they don’t want to help you and just want to send you to the underwriter. I had a non fault accident in June, car repaired and back to me in July. My insurance policy expired October and I am currently uninsured as the claim isn’t actually settled. Driving 10 years, 9 NCD, usually pay £600-£700 for the year. Current cheapest quote is £2700 ! And this insurance company wouldn’t even give me cover! No goodwill gesture to remove the claim on an interim period like other insurers have done in past to get me insured. contacted ombudsman and even martin Lewis! Reviewed on: 9th November 2023

Disgusting company

1
This company is an absolute disgrace. Took a policy out for my daughter who is a learner driver. The premium came in low. I called today to say my daughter passed her test and was told that due to her passing her test within 40 days of taking out the policy, they had to talk with an underwriter to get it renewed. On getting the authority to renew I was told the premium goes from £360 to well over £2000. When I took the policy out after speaking to a member of staff I was not made aware of this. I have now gone and cancelled the policy and was told that as this is after the 14 days I would be charged £50 admin fee, their commission, no refund for the excess cover and legal cover plus other premium charges. In total, out of the £360 I paid for the 12 months cover I will be getting just over £100 back in refund for 15 days cover. Be very aware of this company and how they deceive you. I am now reporting them to the Insurance Ombudsman. Reviewed on: 15th July 2021

Car insurance scam

1
I am absolutely disgusted and upset with this company. I have had car insurance for sometime and had a direct debit due out on 01/07/2020. I then receive a letter on the third from A Choice stating my insurance was cancelled. When I called they said there had been no payment and my bank had written to them as it was closed - my bank account was not closed! My bank account said this was certainly not correct and that they had not called the direct debit. When I called back their finance department they apologised and wavered a late fee. I thought all was sorted until I received another letter. I called them to complain and was out through to A Choice who told me my insurance was cancelled and if I had called the day before it would not have been. They then stated I now owed them £256 for cancellation fees!!!! The insurance payment is £76. I complained and was advised they would speak to their manage and call me back. I have still had no call back and had to pay to insure else where! Never ever use this company again. I googled reviews and it appears this scam has happened to a number of people! Wish I’d read the reviews first Reviewed on: 17th July 2020

Absolutely awful, avoid at all costs!

1
I took my insurance out with this company over a month ago and after the 2 week cooling off period (once they’d taken all of the money) they suddenly started asking for a ridiculous number of different documents which I haven’t had to provide to any other insurance company in the past. In the end they told me they were cancelling my insurance as I had not provided the correct documents. They then tried to charge me £100 for cancelling (2 days after the cooling off period). After negotiating with the manager they agreed to waive the £100 commission. After receiving my refund a month later, it becomes clear that they had in fact charged me a total of £150 to cancel! Never take insurance with them

1
Don’t ever take out insurance with them! They are awful. They falsely sell you everything. I had a claim they tried to charge me £600 excess I cancelled they charged me nearly £500 to do so! There customer service and company is horrendous. Worst company I’ve ever been with. Robbing customers and charging us ridiculous prices! Reviewed on: 19th October 2018

Scammed

1
Scammed me. Cancelled my insurance because I stated I was moving cities, before actually moving. Then hits me with a lot of admin fees for them preemptively cancelling my insurance. And has practically bullied me into paying them since. I would 100% not recommenced this pseudo insurance company. Pay a little bit extra and go with a real company to avoid being scammed. Ripped Off

1
Took out insurance in January told them that there was a strong possibility I would take my car from my parents house in Norwich to my place of study in Oxford around April, they said this would be fine. Paid for insurance Later in April I rang up to say I was taking it to Oxford. This is when the man on the phone put me on hold, came back and said my insurance policy has now been cancelled as they are somehow unable to provide insurance for me in Oxford. No refund, no better offer. Just a cancellation letter. Absolute scam of a company, pay the extra money and go with a known company! Reviewed on: 9th April 2018
