Wonderful, true customer service.

I have been a customer of the Society for more than 60 years. I have been a saver and a borrower from them. Their customer care and service is of the highest standard.......their cashiers shopping for infirm customers during the pandemic and delivering that essential goods to the clients door on their way home.. long may they continue to prosper and offer their unique caring service for many years to come. I have been a borrower now for some 21 years. The Society have helped me in every step of my home ownership-Their values are traditional and they havethe utmost intregrity, you can rely on them, they are genuinely people who care about their clients. Computer says no

Will advise you a mortgage port is possible, however when it comes down to the move they will find any reason they can to decline your application (last minute), so they receive their early repayment charge + admin fee Reviewed on: 5th March 2022
Reply from Bath Building Society Thank you for your feedback which you have shared with us before. For clarity, we do not use computers or credit scoring to make lending decisions. We rely solely on a team of professional underwriters. As a Building Society we always want to find ways to lend but we do have a duty to protect our members from credit risk and this means that we simply cannot lend to everyone. We do not make such decisions to maximise fee income and have recently reviewed, reduced and simplified our fees. We believe them to be fair and transparent and that for both Savings and Mortgages they compare favourably with our competitors. Lastly, when it comes to the speed of our underwriting or making lending decisions this is something that we know we can improve and are trying to do so. Colin McDougall, Chief Commercial Officer. We used BIBS for 3 mortgages in Bath over the years and they were the only one who listened and went the extra mile. For our very first mortgage They looked at our figures in a more humane way rather than punching numbers in to a machine and ‘the computer says no’. Very slow and archaic processes

Bath has a very system of reviewing applications and revisions. Where other firms are contactable usually vis telephone, every enquiry had to be submitted and wait in queue to be processed. The entire process of remortgaging a property took several months when in the past it has taken me weeks Reviewed on: 11th February 2022
