By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

This insurance is perfect for low mileage drivers and was really simple to sign up to. The interaction I have experienced to to date online and via chat with the staff has been exceptional. So pleased to have switched to this innovative cost effective method of insuring my car. I don’t think I completely understood when I was given the quote that the stipulated approximate sum was only for the mileage and I would have to pay an initial almost £200. Had I known that I would have probably not taken this insurance as it will cost me more in a year than other companies. I now have to very carefully plan my journey and opt for lifts and public transport to reduce my mileage, which wouldn’t have been a problem with a fixed rate insurance. Otherwise, I like the app and the instant notification of how much each journey will cost it. Reviewed on: 11th September 2019
