By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

ByMiles's basic nusiness model is genius and something that had to happen. For anyone using their car less than daily, or even daily on short routes, pay-per-mile insurance is a huge financial win. Couple that with a fantastic app which lets you check out your usage (and see where you've parked) and fantastic customer service, and ByMiles is a champion in the insurance industry.
