By Miles provide car insurance aimed at low mileage drivers.

By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Mileage checking has not been without its problems

Having my mileage checked and reducing my miles has saved on insurance costs. However. since I now use my car as little as possible my battery has been letting me down (renewed 1.5 years ago). I have been charging my battery on a number of occasions to be able to start it. A car electrician found the parasitic draw from your unit was causing the problem. I have in the past used a solar panel to trickle feed the battery but can't do this now because the tracker is blocking the port. One step forwards and one back! Reviewed on: 17th August 2025

So easy to use the Miles Tracker and the By Miles app. Great communication with monthly mileage cost which helps me keep track, and many extras too. Mustn’t forget the fair upfront cost. I have become a loyal, low-mileage, customer. Reviewed on: 17th August 2025

Have been with By Miles for at least 4 years now

Have been with By Miles for 4 years now and found them much cheaper than regular annual insurance - since I use the car less than I used to. The p/mile rate has crept up however, but then so has car insurance in general. The fact that I have a record of my trips and related mileage on the app is also very useful. When I changed address this year my rate dropped since I was in a quieter home location. Reviewed on: 17th August 2025
