By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

A refreshing change to how car insurance is done

I love ByMiles. Their model of a small upfront payment then by mile charging gives me great visibility into my driving habits and helps me think twice about whether the drive is needed - something we all need to consider at the moment with fuel prices and eco concerns Excellent app is a breeze to use with near real time view of upcoming costs, and easy to make policy changes - added drivers to the policy mid term with no issue. Probably the best insurance I have had

I’m in my third year of insurance from By Miles and I don’t think I’ll be changing providers anytime soon. Although I drive frequently, the distances are mostly short so the cost is far better than using what I would call a “mainstream” insurer. My only gripe would be with the underwriters rather than By Miles themselves, as the initial yearly price and the price per mile seems to go up each year even though my No Claims goes up each year, I would expect the initial cost and price per mile to decrease not increase.
