By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Quick, easy and cheaper option for low mileage drivers

As a Construction industry manager I was a very high mileage driver then I was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer. With the Covid situation I was only using my car for hospital visits and supermarket runs. I was vastly overpaying for insurance! A friend recommended by miles and I purchased on line. I've been a user of By Miles for nearly a year and it's by far the best insurance company I've been with. Set up was extremely quick and easy and the app makes it clear how much I'm being charged monthly. I think this company is revolutionary in that you only pay for what you drive. Its amazing! By miles is absolutely brilliant, it not only is very cheap but it also helps u keep track on whether ur in the car to much, and where u can infact walk instead of drive.... We do not all have standard lifestyles - so why buy standard insurance?

In the time I've insured my car with By Miles I have endured the pandemic, a shift in my work/life balance and the onset of arthritis in my fingers. So there have been times when I didn't drive at all and times when I did many short journeys. If I had taken out a 'standard' policy which expected me to drive with the same frequency and duration as the average driver, I'd have wasted a lot of money. I recently recommended By Miles to a friend who expects to feel too unwell to drive when she undergoes chemotherapy for 6 months, but still needs her car to be fully covered 'just in case'. And my spritely old cousin, who lives in Central London, uses public transport for the 'day to day' by but will not give up her car because she likes to drive herself on holidays away and visiting friends around the country. By Miles was well-named, as it is THAT MUCH BETTER than the other car insurance policies. Reviewed on: 22nd August 2021
