Ethical, and so Supportive !

I love saving with a building society that does specific, practical things for the environment, and for housing (both so badly needed). Ethical - no investments in bombs or fossil fuels! The people who work for it are lovely! When I ring up to ask questions, I always get patient, friendly help and clear answers. Sure, the interest rate offered is modest - but this is outweighed by the peace of mind Ecology Building Society offers its customers. Reviewed on: 10th November 2024

I have been with The Ecology for decades - truly ethical

There is no compromise with Ecology Building Society. It helps that they are local to me and when I first joined in the 90s I was able to pop in to their office with my pass book. Friendly, personal, genuine and truly innovative; and, as far as I know, they were the first ethical lenders. They are involved in ecology on a much broader scale than just as a building soc; they campaign, speak at conferences and publicise ecological and ethical schemes of others. Helpful friendly banking

I have been a customer of the Ecology Building Society for many years. They are a truly ethical business, supporting local communities and promoting sustainability in all they do. They have always provided speedy and helpful customer service, including the move to online banking. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Excellent organisation

I admire the ecological aims of the society and appreciate their keeping me informed; their way of doing business is highly professional while also maintaining excellent 'customer service'. As an older saver (in my late 70s) I had some initial difficulty with the on-line checks and safeguards but was treated with great patience and understanding by the society's staff. The obvious choice

The week that the Ecology Building Society opened, I visited Companies House in London to verify their credentials and have had an account with them ever since. They provide a unique service, in that their are so few ethical financial establishments in which to invest which don't invest in arms or contribute inadvertently to the manufacture of nuclear weapons, by investing in the nuclear industry. The EBS are the only choice for many who wish to buy or improve properties which would simply not be considered by other building societies. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Real building society run by real people

A rarity - an ethical financial institution that doesn't invest my money in ways I disapprove of. I've saved with them for more than ten years and have always received prompt, friendly and accurate service. They have a fair, transparent pay structure and a commitment to democratic member involvement in decision making. Part of the solution, not part of the problem. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Friendly, easy and great communications

I've never been to the HQ, never even met the staff but I feel like they know me and what I want before I've even asked. Maybe it's because they are a small team and, I'm guessing, we share similar values and hopes. Maybe they are just very good at their jobs. Whatever, it's joy to save with them.
