Friendly advisor says yes, opposed to, computer says no

My husband and I were first time buyers and looking to get on to the property ladder however had found it extremely difficult. We had been students and accrued some debt however had managed to save up a 10% deposit. All other lenders we did not get a foot in the door as the electronic computer system assessed us as not being suitable. However, the mortgage advisor at glasgow credit union was so welcoming and really empathic of our situation. He also also able to put the human side within this and understand our situation. We managed to purchase our first home and have had our mortgage with Glasgow Credit Union for the last 5 years and aren’t looking to change as we feel we have more security as their rates are not set by the Bank of England. Plus we give back to the community lottery and contribute back to the people of Glasgow, which is an added bonus by giving back and banking ethically. Reviewed on: 9th August 2021

My First Mortgage

The Credit Union allowed me to buy my very first property after years of going to traditional high street lenders. I really like how the Credit Union is set up and takes members views into account.
