HyperJar - modern pocket money for my nine year old

I use HyperJar to give my 9 year old daughter regular pocketmoney. She has the app on her smartphone and can create specific savings jars (currently hers are Books and Lego) as well as a general jar. She can spend her money using a debit card which can only access the cash in her jars. What's brilliant is that as soon as she makes a payment, I get an alert telling me how much and where she's spent it. Of course at the moment she's with me when she goes shopping but in future I expect this to be really useful. She was so pleased to be able to spend her own money in a gift shop on holiday recently, but she's also keen on watching her savings grow week by week. great idea to get kids responsible for their money

I have accounts for both my children, I manage them at the moment as they do not have their own devices. transferring money is easy. We are yet to try paying for things directly with the cards but have used the voucher purchase for cashback. Reviewed on: 13th March 2024

Fantastic option to teach children. Highly recommend.

2 of my children have a Hyper Jar account. I chose this initially as there are no fees for children to use it unlike the other brands. The children are able to budget and use their own card for transactions. Transferring money is very easy. I have created savings jars connected to their account that is very easy to use as well as a reward and punishment jar where if they have done something wrong I will move money to the punishment jar which they would then need to earn back with good behaviour which they have followed and works really well with them. You can also send money easily to other people who use Hyper Jar and it comes up on the contacts at the bottom so you can see who is there and makes things very easy for transferring money. It gives children independence with their money as well as teaching them how to manage and budget and send. Its great and I highly recommend it to anyone with Children. Reviewed on: 13th March 2024
