Review of the Leeds Building Society, Mortgages:

Good company

My mortgage was intitially set up by a broker but I have recently changed tariffs and the customer service team were helpful in setting up a mortgage appointment, even noticing my recent birthday. I then received a call from an advisor on time on the allocated day. She went through everything with me in a calm and collected manner which made it easy to understand the different options available to me. I was made to feel like it was important the product was right for me instead of trying to sell me the highest priced product. Overall I was impressed by the service from Leeds Building Society. problem....

The eternal problem with address confirmation.. I've been fighting for 2 weeks to confirm my wife's address.. first it was supposed to be P60 as they have in the letter, now it's not enough for them ... the worst bank I've come across ... I don't recommend it. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2023

Excellent mortgage provider

Recommended by Ethical Consumer Magazine so I switched when my last fixed term mortgage was up. Very easy switch and LBS have been excellent ever since. Reviewed on: 18th January 2023

hassle free mortgage

Purchased my first home during Covid with Leeds BS, no in person meetings required. Easy step by step system to get us sorted Reviewed on: 1st April 2022

Very high SVR - permanently it seems

They have had an SVR of well over 5% for the 15 years I have noted, not so good for those wishing to overpay large sums or avoid early repayment charges if potentially moving, beware.. Reviewed on: 2nd February 2022

Shocking service and bad advice

I moved house and needed to port my existing mortgage across. Should have been simple. Not only has the process been like pulling teeth, it cost me thousands extra as I was given bad advice by LBS which was highlighted by my conveyancer. Consultants were pompous, unhelpful and sly. Steer well clear! I would have rated 0 stars in review but was not possible. Reviewed on: 16th June 2021

Great service

Always happy to help and reassuring when things took an unexpected turn. The staff member took time to look things over then said they would need to call me back and that same member phoned me back which was great and really meant a lot to me. Reviewed on: 8th February 2019

Great

Leeds were one of the only providers to offer shared ownership mortgages. Competitive rate and mortgage was approved so very happy indeed. Reviewed on: 10th August 2018

Service generally good but SVR high

The society seems more interested in attracting new business than charging a fair rate on their SVR Reviewed on: 1st December 2017
