I cancelled my contents insurance with nat west on...

I cancelled my contents insurance with nat west on renewel of policy. They informed me on the renewel by email on the 21st and new policy would start on 25th, 4 days! I canceled my direct debit straight away and proceeded to cancel by email on the 21st also informing of my decision. I presumed that was all done. I never received any documents confirming my new policy was up for renewal as promised and the email that was sent was just my luck i saw it in time or NOT! Being 75 years old my technology is not good. Anyway today i received a letter telling me i had not paid my monthly direct debit. After contactig nat west im told they did not receive any email cancelling? So i now have to pay £21 for cancelling! And a further amount due to not paying the months payment. Disgusting no compassion, i cancelled due too the yearly increase of £60 Reviewed on: 11th March 2026

Emergency call.waiting 5 hours and counting

Well satvhere now 5 hours after reporting an electral issue that means no lights or sockets working.Home emergency cover accepted the claim but still no contact to say when someone will arrive. Second time of ring " our back office arevtrying to sort" its a pretty mudane Saturday no storms not mid winter just a basic day so whats the issue?? Reviewed on: 28th February 2026

Terrible Customer Service, No Client Care

After 10 years of 0 claims, I finally logged one with the Home Emergency Team, when our boiler experienced a fault. . Although the engineer was sent out promptly, we were told the boiler needed a 'part' and would need to be ordered. Despite being told that we would be kept 'informed' and the issue would be resolved within 5 days, I had to call up every day for an update. In each instance, they told me they "couldn't get hold of the trade, so there's no update on your part. Despite being told our case was being 'escalated', nobody called and I was told the manager wouldn't be calling as 'he has no update'. As of this writing, this still hasn't been resolved. The phone lines are useless and the representatives clearly have no real sense of how to handle claims or reassure customers. This service is awful, do not risk your families wellbeing with this service. Reviewed on: 17th February 2026

Lost earpiece

Contacted customer service and knowledgeable staff arranged contact person to ring me to discuss the problem.. Only one hripe. Excess payment is taken before any actions being taken. Why not take any agreed excess away from final payout. Reviewed on: 21st August 2025

Good value but can't see insurance info online

My review is about renters insurance. I have had renters insurance for a while, however I find it hard to know how to access the information about the contract. I get renewal letters once a year but I would prefer to be able to access it online, so that I can change my direct debit details myself. Reviewed on: 18th April 2025

Some verge tiles blew off my roof in a mini whirlwin...

Some verge tiles blew off my roof in a mini whirlwind and an assessor said the wind in the area wasn’t strong enough so I wouldn’t recommend Nat West insurance Reviewed on: 16th December 2024

One word rubbish

Had to have roof repaired after recent storm got in touch with insurance company sent a chap out assessing the damage and said he would be back in touch got a phone call a few days later saying that the storm wasn’t bad enough to cause the damage and declined the claim absolute rubbish Reviewed on: 19th February 2024
